I've tried it few times with different programs, on different computers, it always validates the same way, pages 4 and 5 with barcodes without signature box and the last page(6 of 6), with declaration and consent.
I will try it few more times and see. Thanks.

So, I filled out the newest form with dummy info just to see what would happen. Page 4 is all bar codes, page 5 is 2 bar codes, and the last page is the declaration with the signature box.

I have a question. I am looking to sponsor my girlfriend either Conjungal or Common-law, and am not sure if either would qualify?

I am Canadian and we have been together for just over 1 year. However, one year ago last September, a few months after we started seeing each other, she applied and was refused 2 applications for a work visa extension and new work permit. Therefore she had to leave back to Brazil, now she is back in Canada as a tourist since May and come September will have been living together for 5 months. I did visit her in Brazil over Christmas and i'm wondering if these 2 refusals could count as "unable to live together". And count towards a common-law, or conjungal partnership? I have been supporting her since she has been here currently, as stated in my letter for her Tourist Visa.

I can provide evidence of being together from June 2014, and the refusals of Visas, and visiting her ect.

She only had 6 months of a work permit in the first place and was unable to get any extension. So if this fails it seems extremely difficult for someone who only gets a 6 month visa to be supported entirely for another 6 months or even a full year before they can apply for sponsorship.

Hi there! Our situation is quite similar, though my BF is a Canadian and I am a Filipina. We have been together for 4 yrs and 6 mos now. He visited Philippines twice already. Now that we are planning to settle down I'd researched and looked for answers on what steps to be done. The advise that we got from friends and here in the forum who have same situation as ours is to get married. Moving forward, processing will be easier. Kindly check also CIC website on Family Sponsorship Visa Program. It is there.

Please do let me know what steps you already did.

Hi all,

This is all new to me. I'm a recent member and have spent the day reading various posts which have been really helpful, so thank you to you all for that!

I'm British and have been with my girlfriend since November 2012. We lived together in South Korea where we worked for 2 years (the apartment wasn't in our names though). In August 2014 we left Korea and travelled around Asia and eventually to Canada in October. I met her friends and family and stayed there for 7 weeks. In turn, she then came with me back to England in December for Xmas and New Year and eventually went back to Canada in Feb 2015. We've been working in our own countries since (although I visited her during Easter). :'(

I'm visiting her this summer for 4 weeks and during that time we're going to marry ;D! It'll be a small service with not too much fuss, but we wanted to do it and also figured that it'd help to apply for sponsorship as spouses rather than conjugal partners (which would be hard to prove). I will have to come back to UK 6 days after the wedding to resume work, but my contract expires in November so I'm looking to leave and do what I can to be together with my new wife. We plan to settle in Toronto.

So questions are: When we get the wedding certificate, we're going to apply for sponsorship straight away. I'd like to get it processed asap. Would it be better if we both went to live in Asia and applied through the Beijing or HK offices (we're thinking of working in Taiwan for 12 months), or would it be better for me to come to Canada in November/December and stay there until it's processed? Can we do this? Should we do inland or outland applications? The London office is currently taking 28 months to process applications so that's really slow.
We'll have spent Feb-December 2014 apart so ideally we'd not like to spend any more apart.

Apologies if this seems like an amateur post, but maybe that's what I am.

That's what I have also. Is it supposed to be that way? I thought that there should be one more signature box under the barcodes.

Does it take longer for an application to be processed if sponsor is a PR? or does being PR or citizen have no bearing in processing times? Thank you!

Nope, no more boxes. That is the correct form. Aside from the extra barcode page, it is identical to the one we sent in.

That's the ultimate question. Everyone has different life situations, everyone has different countries. That is the easy answer. Now if you are asking why someone with similar life situations at the same visa office takes years while the other takes a few months, it really comes down to luck, what officer you get and if you checked all the boxes for them.

The main reason for delays are incomplete forms. If you have to be asked for further documentation for any reason, it's going to add time to your processing. Make sure you "dot every i, cross every t" so to speak, and do everything upfront.
That does not necessarily mean send in hundreds of pages of information though. It just has to be the right information.

Sort of figured it out trying to answer the question myself. All based on luck. I just thought that there would be a more logical explanation and you gave it. Delays, maybe including the work load of CIC and corresponding VOs too. Thanks Aqua!

With those type of questions, there is some leeway with how accurate you have to be, since not everyone will remember exactly when past relationships ended and began (unlike marriage/divorce where you have a piece of paper to remind you). It's ok to approximate it to the best of your ability.

If he is married to you now there is nothing to prove, it was only common-law. If he'd had a divorce then yes he'd have to show documentation of that.

Anyone can make the payment. Email a copy to the VO.
