Hello, everyone, I'm about to apply for PR we got married January this year but we've been living together for 2 years now.
and I have 3 questions.

1.I have a 2-year work permit that's how I first came to Canada But I'm Wondering if she's going to sponsor me, can I get EI the time I'm not working?? Because my job is seasonal I start working until may and they always give us a layoff letter to claim EI, if I claim would it affect my process?

2. I'm applying for an open work permit as well because now I have a work permit for a specific employer and cant work elsewhere. When I get my open work permit how long does it last?

3. And third one, if we've been living together for a year but dating for 2 years and only got married this January, what is the date I should put in my app that we've been together?

Thank you so much for your help

1) Employment Insurance doesn't count as social assistance/welfare - welfare programs like Ontario Works or Employment and Income Assistance in Manitoba are not allowed.

2) OWP's are good for 2 years OR until your passport expires IF your passport expires in less than 2 years (i.e. I'll receive my OWP in April and my passport expires September 2019, so that's when my OWP will expire as well).

3) It's up to you, but I'd personally say you "got together" when you started dating, otherwise CIC will want to see proof of your romantic relationship in the year that you were just living together as friends.

I wouldn't be nervous, you have been approved now! Just a formality after that.

Good to hear, early or late July? We are August so hopefully not much longer to wait for the med request, at least things are moving again!

Not sure about passport request though I didn't think inland apps get that request?

Thanks, @Oldmacwright. Would you know how long it will take after the medical though? :)

Hi Trinh,
you can get RAMQ only with AIP letter, or your OWP and full time employment. I don't think RAMQ is mandatory for the french classes, my husband has already been registered in francisation for two semester and he is not eligible for health insurance...

Thank you for the reply :)

This morning, my husband and I went to RAMQ, and they said like you just told me, it was sad. However, we went to the school to explain my case, and they said it is ok, I just need to show them proofs that I'm living in Quebec city then everything will be fine, they will NOT refuse my case! How nice they are!

I also just saw your timeline which was incredible! I'm so happy for both of you!

I'm waiting for Med request, and then AIP letter I guess, and then interview and landing... I hope everything will come soon!

Congratulations!!!

Hello again everyone,

As like many of you the past couple days, I finally received medical request today. My application was received on July 21st, 2017.

Maybe it's our "batch" now. My AOR is 31 July 2017... I am wondering though how long it will take after submitting the medical.

Seems like that..

I received AOR on September 6th, 2017.

I am out of status so I am not sure how long the process is going to take. They didn't even start the review of my eligibility. Just my BGC at the end of November.

Oh wow, congratulations! I'm an August applicant, waiting for Med request for months... I hope I will have it soon too! It's so nice to hear that CIC starts working on Med request again. They seemed to skip it for a while...

I think the reason that they are delaying the medical requests is that medicals aren't affecting the process, can be requested any time and also they have an expiration date. So that makes sense because if your application is being delayed and you have already done your medicals and then they expire, you will have to do them again. I had read someone's post that this happened to him

Yes, if they work like you said then it's really good :) Also it means that people who pass Med test will have AIP and then interview soon which sounds AMAZING!!!
