Something weird happened to my status on ECAS, as some of you know my application was sent on March 10th 2017, it said it was received on March 15th 2017 and they started processing it on March 28th 2017, now they added another line that says "We started processing xxx 's application on March 6, 2018."

I just dont get it and now I'm freaking out!

How could they start processing it now 12 MONTHS AFTER I sent it? This is so weird... Did someone here experience something similar?

I had the exact same thing happen! I am a February 2017 applicant and recently got AIP on February 28th 2018. Now my ECAS states that they started processing my application February 28th 2018 too! It's very strange IMO, but I'm just going to think of it as a good sign. My ECAS status read 'Application Received' for the longest time and now says 'In Process' so any step forward is a positive for me.

Hello everyone ,

Please leave comments and your advices. I have been called by Cbsa yesterday because I was out of status since March 2017 and applied for inland spousal file in November 2017 and I met my husband in November 2015.
Cbsa gave me I year exclusion order for 1 year. I don’t know what will happen next they told me to call them every 2 week and report them. :(

OK, I see, good to know, thank you.
When you got a notification to MyCIC (that you're a PR now), did they also sent a scanned copy of CoPR there? Just interesting.
My interview at the end of the month.
Nope. Copr will come in the mail. I hope to get it next week. They sent a letter in mycic saying congrats and the official or date

Do you know if there is a reason you got the phone interview as opposed to the office interview or is it random? One person mentioned that it might be location-based (ie if you're not near a landing office you get a phone interview) but I've not seen anything to confirm this

Apparently, it's not not always relevant to how far the landing office is.
My landing office is very close, but they scheduled a phone interview. Probably, the office is busy for the next 3-4-8 weeks, so, the phone interview was quicker (that's the logic, I think).

I applied almost the same time as you. When did your background check complete?

I've seen on the forum that cbsa also called someone else and I really don' know why. I am also out of status and sent my application few weeks ago and now am scared they might call me also. Do y'all think it's a new thing they are doing with persons who are out of status?

Hello

I am in your same situation. I applied March 2017 and I report to CBSA every month. Just ask them know about your sponsorship application and you will be ok. just waiting for the final decision.

Yes I told them about my application and the problem is it’s just 4 months I sent it in it’s a long way too go. I was really scared yesterday when interview me . I just hope it end soon. Did they call cic for u to speed up the process ?

I got my interview on July after I did my medical.. I do not think you can speed up your process, just wait..and do everything the ask you...I've been waiting for a year already and the last update was MArch 01 when they request my Criminal Record based on Fingerprints
Good Luck!

I applied almost the same time as you. When did your background check complete?

As far as I'm aware (no access to MyCIC as I used a representative) my background checks are ongoing as I had to submit some extra documentation (primarily a FBI report detailing an infraction from about 12 years ago) so my file is taking a bit longer to clear.

I've received work permits and several re-entries to Canada since then without issue so I'm hoping they just need all of the required docs before my background check is done. As far as I'm aware my civil infraction (from California) is equivalent to a summary offense in Canadian law and since it happened 10+ years ago it is Deemed Rehabilitated.

What stage is your application at?

I would just submit all the evidences that you applied for this certificate and write CoverLetter to explain all that you said here (I applied ... just 30 days ... I did the maximum of what I could ... no certificate yet ... etc.)
Thanks! That's a great idea :)
