Has anyone here applied without a birth certificate ?

We did. My wife is chinese and China didn't start issuing birth certificates (national) until 1996 but our original application was returned because of lack of birth certificate even though their own documents and country file states that there are no official certificates before 1996. we resubmitted the same package with a letter stating why we didn't include a birth certificate. IMO I think it was originally rejected because the agent was trying to clear their desk as quickly as possible and that seemed like an easy excuse.

Bear in mind that beginning in 2017 the government promised to process applications within 12 months. From what I understand, they didn't hire additional case workers, and they are the same people that used to take 18-24 months to do the same job that they now have to do in 12 months. I don't believe that they are working any faster or more efficiently but are clearing files off their desk by rejecting as many applications as they can. My advise is to make your application as complete as possible and if there are any gaps, include a letter explaining why.

Is your sponsor is your spouse or common-law partner?
If yes, then you should leave it N/A.
Co-signer is spouse or common-law partner, so if you are the spouse or common law partner then its not applicable
Yes my sponsor is my spouse. We have been married for 2 years and our application was just returned. So do we just put not applicable on the cosigner section of the form?

I’m sorry to hear that :( why did they returned it?

Yes, you should put not applicable on the co signer section/any sign section of co signer because it is not applicable for this case.

It was returned for wrong checklist. Our application is simple because we didn't have to send any proof of relationship because we have been married for 2 years and have kids together.

Received work permit today :D
Well, we received the notification that they approved it and mailed it.

Date application received: November 1st, 2017
OWP: January 31, 2018
Yayy!! Congrats! So excited to hear they are working on November apps! :D

I called CIC again since today it's 105 days since they received my OPW and the guy told me that it doesn't matter if you were in or out of status but when you have to send back the OPW to Vegreiville you have to wait for the application to be approved in principle. So I don't understand why the other agent told me to send the web form telling them that I was in status while I applied if it doesn't matter.

Do you guys know how long does it take for AIP usually?
WHAT?? This can't be true!!? I heard you only have to wait until AIP if you are out of status. This agent is not telling you true facts, at least I'm praying they aren't true!!

Hi! I wanted to update everyone.
On Friday, Feb 2 2018, I sent my telephone interview attendance form to CIC along with my passport biodata page around 10am EST.
IRCC Etobicoke sent me my COPR and instructions for the interview later on Friday around 2:45 pm EST.
I had found an error in my COPR, so I sent an email (on Friday, around 3:35 pm EST) to get it corrected.

Hope to hear from IRCC Etobicoke soon to rectify this error.
