Hello everyone
I have silly question. I know, If I fly out of canada, I can't enter while my inland sponsorship file in process. But I want to know, if it's alright to fly within Canada. I'm concerned because my air ticket says something about eTA.
Thank you

Domestic travel is fine. You are able to board with photo ID such as a drivers license. I think the eTA blurb is standard boiler plate legalese that they will put on everything

Hello, I have problems with my online account. It doesn't get updated.
App sent March 3
App received March 7
Since then no news no message in the account until a week ago.
Using the online tool I saw a notification that they sent me correspondence for additional docs on 25 of March in my account, but I have no messages.
I sent already 2 specific case enquiries to inform them for the problem and two technical problem reports.
After that my page got updated , saying that they need additional documents and I also had a request for medical exam, but still no message below for instructions.
Two days after that it changed again to " no medical exams needed" , "You need to sent additional docs, check the messages below" ....but still there no message below

At the same time the online tool gives the same answer " You sent you correspondence for add. docs on March 25th."
I am really stressed that I will miss the deadline and I really don't know what to do because they specify "Don't send any additional doc if you don't receive first the message with the details in your account"
Any help or advise would be appreciated

My account details went from "requested medical exam" to "if you need a medical exam, a message will be sent to you." but it still says on the details "your action is required". They are working on fixing the glitch. I wouldn't worry about it. A few days ago, they posted that if you missed your deadline because of technical issues, you will not be penalized..something like that. This is actually written in the CIC sign-in page:

We are currently experiencing very high traffic on our online services. You may have difficulty accessing them. We are working to resolve this issue.

  • If you are unable to submit a document on time as a result of the technical difficulties, try again over the next few days. If you are concerned about missing your deadline, submit the requested documents using the IRCC Webform.
  • You may see an incorrect application status asking for a medical exam or additional documents. If you actually need to send any documents or do a medical, you will see a message in your account and a letter explaining what you need to do.

Hi there tctt,

My hubby is a late Dec 2016 applicant as well but we submitted the medicals upfront and here is our timeline.

I think yours is just a matter of time and might be slightly delayed due to a (likely) forthcoming medical request ...

Submitted Dec 8th, 2016 with upfront medical
AOR1 Dec 23rd, 2016
OWP March 27th, 2017
Criminal check request April 11th, 2017
SA June 1st, 2017; DM June 5th, 2017; PR Landing letter June 6th, 2017
Hi NinaM,

Thank you for the reply. Yeah I think ours got delayed because of the medicals.Just keeping my fingers crossed and praying for a positive news. This has been so stressful! We have contacted our local MP and sent in a supporting letter as well. Atleast a first stage approval would be nice to see in our inbox;) but no luck no far.
Keeping everyone in our prayers.

Hi everyone,

Since there is no requirement for "love story" anymore in checklist, do we still need to have one in application? We already have other letters from our friends and families to vouch for us.

Thanks!

NinaM, just a small clarification re: your Criminal check request from CIC.
1. Did you get the request by regular mail or as email?
2. Is it request for Canadian criminal check or from other country?
Thanx.

Hi Matej,

Sorry I'm slow in replying... I'm not online a lot.

In response to your questions:

1. The request was an email to my rep's email address with a formal letter attached, no physical letter made it to our doorstep

2. Request was "for the country that he had spent the majority of his years in" so we submitted a criminal check from his home country (which took us 3 weeks and the results were to be sent directly to the embassy in that country who would then fwd to the CIC). Since things were out of our control, we submitted evidence by email to our case file that the criminal check had been requested and that we had paid for it. Thankfully the stars aligned and it seemed that the company doing the cc understood our directions and submitted appropriate documentation to the embassy who then forwarded to the appropriate channels at CIC).

I have also heard on the forum that a criminal check from Canada is not required, since CIC has the ability to request this themselves. But I defer to those that might've spent the majority of their years here and what they did with such a request.

Hope this helps!

I can confirm what Jiro said. My husband and I flew west coast to east coast without any hassles at all except for the usual travel ones!

Hello everyone!!

I am a Canadian citizen and my Hubby is American. We are just finishing up filling out the forms etc and are hoping to send the application in within the next few months.

Short background: Hubby has been here for almost 8 years (out of status...I know, I know), we have been married for 6. We are including a restoration of status form (TRP) and OWP app with our application as this is how it was done by someone else prior as per instruction from Immigration. We are not under a removal order and I will not bore you with the details of the variety of reasons why we have not applied up until now (Let's just say Murphy's law has fun with my life).

We have sent off for Hubby's FBI clearance already. He has an old DUI that should be on there so we want to see.

Looking forward to watching everyone's journey and will post updates as they happen to us! Happy 2017 everyone!

Hi. Hows your application now? Did you received any update or did they asked any docs from you? What's the status of your hunny coz read you applied for trv and owp at the same time.

I hear you, tctt, and heartily agree about stressful!

When things start happening, they seem to go in a cascade, though, so keep faith! I think they're processing these apps in batches because we see a whole flurry of "Oh, I got my OWP!!" and then "Wow, got my PCC and Sched A" and then "hmmm, medicals!!"....

So yours will likely be in the next batch they get through.

Also consider that the system seems to be having some issue with medical requests (the update gets sent but there's no letter followup), so it's fair so assume the system might be broken on the medical request front. See if you can get a live agent on the phone to talk to. Its dastardly how many times you have to call to get through BUT... at least this will confirm the situation for you. And put your mind at rest as to the next step. You could ask what if you did a medical without getting a request and sent it in ahead of the request? I've not heard anyone do this but there are those of us who submitted the initial app with medical attached, so it seems a fair question (EDITED LATER to say: probably not a wise thing to do - SEE BELOW)

I read earlier in this thread, that this is probably not a good idea since they explicitly state on the website not to send anything that hasn't been requested.

So totally nix that comment from me! I don't want to suggest anything that would hinder your app!!

i have tried this because i applied to remove a condition in my owp. i submitted the IME form given by the dmp via IRCC webform but nothing came out of it. no reply from cic or acknowledgement of receipt. i did this last may 11 so it's been exactly a month. but i'm not expecting my medical exam to reflect as passed since i also have a non-accompanying dependant.

Just curious... is anyone else stuck waiting for there OWP like me. Applied feb. 6th.. they still haven't processed any since january 26th. I like there pilot for us but we might as well wait until we get PR at this rate because it still takes 119 days to complete a paper application. I'm sorry to everyone waiting like I am as not being able to work stinks.

Pretty sure they say in checklist or spousal form "how you met" and somewhere else says on the check list I believe at the bottom around photos and all that. Letters from family or neighbors to vouch for you. Not sure if this helps lol good luck to you and your partner with this very stressful process
