Hello, Sorry I also wanted to add that, I currently already have a Post-Secondary Open Work Permit that will be expiring very soon.

I had a question regarding the open work permit (pilot) for people applying through common-law spouse (inland). I wanted to know, which box do I check on the open work permit form (Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710] . On the form (Question 3) it says


I am applying for the following:

1. A work permit by the same employer
2. An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
3. Restoration of your status as a worker
4. Temporary Resident Permit

Which number would I choose?

Sorry to bother everyone. I had a question regarding pictures on the application. It says maximum 20 photos to be sent! I want to know, are they very strict on this? I wanted to send about 35 photos. Do they just only look at the first 20? Should I put an additional section and write extra pictures as the title?

I put exactly 20 pictures. I choose the best ones. Some with our wedding, some with us on dates. Some with our little family, some with family events of our extended family/friends.

Im not sure if you should send more. I would suggest you send only 20 for now. If they request more proof or call you for an interview then you have a chance to give more pics .

Sometimes cic can be very anal and strict about certain stuff.

I answered yes to the four questions in the checklist on number 7. So am I right in thinking I don't need to send proof of relationship pictures or any other proof?

No you dont. They may request some later but right now you dont

Also On the OWP application where it states 'have you previously applied to remain in canada' do I write about my PR application there and since I don't have a application number yet, how do I identify it

I wrote that I'd applied for my IEC and recieved and to extend my stay as a visitor and put the application number but didnt mention PR since youre only eligble for OWP because of it

Hello, everyone.
I have learned so much after reading this.
I submitted application in Jan 2017 and received Medical Exam request last week, completed today. Also after 2 months of trying to link my application, i have finally linked today!!!
So my question is i haven't received any request for Schedule A or Police Certificate. Is that normal? What else is left to do?

If you are inland try calling them to see if they already requested it. They emailed me asking for my schedule A because my account wasnt linked at the time they requested it.

Check your email and spam mail before you call them.

I received the email before medical. Its over a month now since my background check is in process. It started April 27. Still no update yet. I called cic they told me that as soon as the background check is completed they will request my medical. They also told me the reason why background check is taking this long is because they are still waiting for reports from CBSA and RCMP.

So they do things in different order for each case? My background check is still processing but i have already done medical check. Will call them first thing tomorrow morning.
