i sent my entire application in one envelope, separated by paper clips. i inserted my owp application in between the order of the document checklist that says "are you sending an owp application with this application?" or something like that.

to everyone else, an update on my app today says background check in process. it's good to see movement
Yup that's good. My background check started April 27th 2017 and it is still in process. Bern over a month now and no update yet

IRCC received our application on December 23, 2016 and started processing on January 16, 2017. My wife and I received AOR and uploaded scheduled A. I included PCC and medical certificate with initial application. Since then we haven't heard anything. Anyone with similar timeline?

Honestly, I don't know. My wife was on a study permit the whole time, we did not apply for the OWP, so I'm less familiar with rules related to the OWP. But my guess is that the OWP received through the spousal sponsorship does not require the CSQ, while other work permits (from other immigration category) would require it. The CSQ will come only later in the process. If I were you, I would call the MIDI to ask. It's much easier to get a line with the MIDI than with CIC.
Thank you!
I just call MIDI and they told me that I can work in Quebec since I have the open work permit even if I haven't got or even apply yet for the Quebec certificate of selection!!! What a relief :D:D:D

I've noticed a new line in MyCIC today:
"We are reviewing the results of your medical exam"
(I applied inland and AOR was received at the beginning of February).
Hopefully, that means they are directly working with my application now.

Have you done it upfront?
Cause as soon as I sent my application, my status said: passed. So now I'm wondering if they are going to review it again..?

Hello,

I had a question regarding the open work permit (pilot) for people applying through common-law spouse (inland). I wanted to know, which box do I check on the open work permit form (Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710] . On the form (Question 3) it says

I am applying for the following:

  1. A work permit by the same employer
  2. An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
  3. Restoration of your status as a worker
  4. Temporary Resident Permit

Which number would I choose?

Thank you,

Yes, we did pass it upfront. But we didn't have it described as "passed" from the beginning.

I sent my application on Feb, AOR in March, OWP in April. I had my medical exam done May 11, 2017 to apply to change conditions on my OWP. I called the doc's office and they said e-med was submitted on May 17, 2017. I submitted my new OWP application but both OWP and PR app doesn't show medical passed yet. I guess no officer has looked at it yet so just waiting for now.

Thats fine, you're well within the timeframe. They're currently working on applications sent up to April 11th, 2016.
