you can just look it up on ecas but it's only in mycic that you can link. How long does it normally take to link your application on ecas?
technically you wouldn't fall to any category like common-law or conjugal as you are not living together. you were simply boyfriend and girlfriend at that time. i don't see any problem since they have a visitor visa and you have tons of proof for your relationship. you would be able to apply for inland sponsorship once you get married. just make sure to establish ties with each other like bank accounts and such. maybe somebody could chime in in this thread to correct me and add more info?Hi there!
Me and my fiyancee are in about exactly the same situation at the moment.
Could we get in touch somehow? I`d really appreciate your advice on this, because our situation is indeed very, very particular.
congrats! and now you start the journey together with all of us. thank you for reading and going through this thread first for the info you need instead of blindly posting and flooding this thread with redundant posts. let us know if you were able to link!Hi all!
My husband (the Applicant) just got his AOR!
Our Application was received by CIC on May 31, 2017. Gonna try to link the application now using all the helpful tips in here.
So myself, sponsor, my dad, mum and two younger brothers. I just put 1? My family isn't here with me or coming here though. What do I do?For linking, DO NOT USE PASSPORT INFORMATION. Use your application number or UCI and family name, and use your place and country of birth, but leave all passport information blank. For number of people on application, put 2 (you + sponsor). Add 1 for each dependent if applicable.
dad, mum, brothers do not qualify as family members for spousal sponsorship and cannot be added as dependants. if it's just you as the principal applicant and no dependants (no kids) with the application, put 2 (you and sponsor) for number of people in the application. like @shazahsan said, do not fill passport info, leave it blank. use uci number or app number and family name (in all caps). try putting 1 space for city of birth but answer the country of birth. see if it worksSo myself, sponsor, my dad, mum and two younger brothers. So thanks to all who have contributed, and I'm happy to be in touch with people who are on this same journey. Fingers crossed that it's smooth sailing from here!congrats! and now you start the journey together with all of us. thank you for reading and going through this thread first for the info you need instead of blindly posting and flooding this thread with redundant posts. let us know if you were able to link!

Wanna get this right. In the generic forms where it asked to put in family members whether coming with me or not. I put in my family who are back home not coming with me. So I should still put 2 in the box right? Also for the putting of 1 space for city of birth what does that mean? Please.dad, mum, brothers do not qualify as family members for spousal sponsorship and cannot be added as dependants. if it's just you as the principal applicant and no dependants with the application, put 2 (you and sponsor) for number of people in the application. like @shazahsan said, do not fill passport info, leave it blank. use uci number or app number and family name (in all caps). try putting 1 space for city of birth but answer the country of birth. see if it works
hi look at the posts of @Sheraton_k i think she was also a victim of cic's "lost" application. i think it was their owp. you might wanna ask what they did about their app. sorry to hear about that, i hope they eventually find it. it could be just there but it was just passed from officer to officer so they can't trace it at the moment. So just a follow up to the situation with our application that was received May 19th 2017 according to Canada Post.
I called the CIC and confirmed that THEY LOST OUR APPLICATION. Yes, they have no record other than our payment going through. They are sending an email to the Mississauga office to ask them to find it. According to the CIC agent we should follow up again in 3-4 weeks....
Please tell me someone else has gone through this? We are so frustrated and the process apparently hasn't even started
this is for the linking process right? just put 2. putting 1 space means hitting the spacebar once and then move on to the next question. calling cic about linking will not help, they will answer you with a vague explanation.Wanna get this right.
