Just got AIP!!!! It came from the Montreal office (I'm in Montreal). As of my last GCMS notes it was in Vancouver, so I guess the sent it to Montreal for assessment? Sponsor hasn't received anything yet - is it possible that he never gets an SA letter and I only get AIP?

App received: September 26, 2017
AOR: November 27, 2017
Medical passed: April 27, 2018
AIP: August 29, 2018

No changes on ECAS yet. My account says now "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements."

Congratulations! If I am not mistaken, you would not get AIP if SA hasn't been approved. You may never see a letter or a change on the websites but the sponsor has been approved. All I can say is that you're so close to the end. :)

Haven't heard about this before. Could you tell us more details about the call? Where is your application? Mississauga?
I was asked about whether I had any criminal convictions, whether I had any dependents, first and last date of entry into Canada, if I had ever been refused entry, and if I ever had to be ordered to leave Canada. My spouse was asked if she remained fine with being my sponsor. I think that was pretty much it. Before the interview I received a letter with the documents to sign, and instructions. What could be part of this is that we live in a really remote part of Canada that has no road access to any place where you could do an interview in person. Maybe they were just being nice.

Oh so practically it was the same as any other landing interview. That's fantastic that they do that. Thanks so much for sharing! :)

Anyone else from Australia having issues with the security checks taking an absurd amount of time? I'm a Feb 2017 applicant, don't have a criminal record, no previous marriages, no kids, seemed like a straight forward application. I have had so many issues with my application (all coming from IRCC making mistakes) and have been in contact with an MP's office since May who has been trying to help me, but still no end in sight. Received AIP on July 5, nothing since. When sending webform requests to find out what is going on, they tell me my eligibility (AIP) is still being determined but i guess they are just reading off MYCIC account which hasn't been updated in months, which goes to show how messed up they are. The guy from MP's office tells me it's in the last stage which is security checks and it's out of the hands of Immigration and is i guess being processed by the Australian and Canadian security agencies, but it has been like this since early June and nothing has changed.

So very frustrating and also alarming, as we have booked and paid for tickets to Australia in December as we figured this would have been long sorted by then, but here we are still waiting with zero answers or the wrong or old info from IRCC.

6 months past the approx 12 month processing time with no answers

Congrats! As @david_gat88 said, you need SA to get AIP. Even if you don't receive the letter, you have SA as well. ECAS is sometimes updated only the next morning. So check tomorrow and log in as the sponsor. Tomorrow you should see decision made on the sponsor side and in process on the PA side.

I heard about a pilot project doing landing on the phone for some of the 2016 applicants. It's the first time I hear about it for a 2017 applicant. The questions they asked are the same they would have asked in person. These questions are also written on the CoPR document.

Did you travel a lot? I'm asking because sometimes they will do security checks with all countries you visited. Security checks with Australian citizens should not be difficult to do as both Canada and Australia are part of the five eyes; they collaborate on a daily basis.
In any case, best of luck to you, I wish you to get the DM soon.

yes I went travelling through the US for a few months to many different states, and through Europe twice for quite a few months both times through many different countries. I managed to compose a very detailed and accurate timeline of where and when i went to. Hopefully i get DM soon, it's been so frustrating

Still those countries usually do not induce really longer processing time, they are all collaborating well with CSIS. Best of luck anyway! I understand the feeling, but stay positive. This is only a matter of time.

Not my post, I apologize. @sylvain1 do you have an idea on Mexican background checks processing times?

It looks like we aren't going to be landed within the time frame as there are 13 days left for this to happen, and there is still nothing on or account. What are the next steps ? We have a lawyer so I will contact them but when should I contact my MP? Now or after it's exactly 12 months ?
