It's an official request. The Canadian police check takes about 10 days to arrive once you get fingerprinted. Also, for your police check for your country, make sure it is issued AFTER you've left the country or it will be rejected.Hey, I'm new here (found the forum because linking my application really was a struggle, all posts on this were really helpful btw, you guys are heroes) and immediately I have a silly question for you.
The official website made me believe that I don't need a police certificate from Canada unless it is specifically requested. Now upon linking my account, I got that letter requesting additional documents and it's asking for both police certificates from the country where I spent most of my adult life as well as the country I currently live in (6 months or more). I've been in Canada for over a year now. So... is that already a request or just some generic message everyone gets?
For anyone curious about timelines, my application was received on July 27 and I got the AOR today.
I asked a similar question the other day. Im applying for common law living in canada, ive been here 19 months working on open work permit, and im currently getting police checks ready. Ive already sent for my UK police check and i got told i dont need a Canadian polife check? Is this correct or not? It's an official request. AOR on July 25th. Nope no updates after sending my schedule A form and police certificate. About OHIP in Ontario I don't think they accept AOR alone (I've read on this forum that it only proves that your package has all correct forms inside). On the website it says you need to be around 153 days in Ontario during 12 month period or from the first 186 days since you came. They also need a letter saying that they have proven your eligibility for your PR application. OWP works too but you need to be working for at least 6 months. Yes I do think they just send everything at once like you mentioned. Hopefully it will be soon.Hey all,
Did anyone of you get the Sponsor Approval? I received my AOR on 6th July, and I haven't heard anything yet! Does anyone have any info on getting OHIP with AOR alone? I think you can get it after AIP, but looks like they aren't sending out anything in stages, but all at once. This sucks!
I tried to do some more "research" and found different opinions on this? The only sort of official thing I see is this:I asked a similar question the other day. I was wondering the same thing for my Wife who has been here several years as a visitor and currently out of status (awaiting AOR for inland app), will they ask for a Canadian police check and how would one go about it for someone out of status? We all ready have her home country police check. I was assuming they must know that she has not any kind of record in Canada as if she had run into any problems with the law then I assume the police would notify CBSA/CIC in the first instance and likely be booted out.I asked a similar question the other day. Hi @KandyK,
We have similar timelines. I have not heard anything after my medical exam... I'll let you know as soon I get any update.. Hopefully soon!!!!!
Hello, I have exactly the same case. I just recieved my OWP and planning to visit LA for a week with my wife. I wonder if we can leave and come back to Canada without any issues. Hope someone can help us with some info. I still have no job though, I have the OWP and valid multiple entry visa.Hi guys, I haven't been here for a while since I got my OWP.
I am just wondering about travelling outside of Canada.
Is that really okay if I have a valid passport and OWP and ETA?
I am about to buy tickets to LA for next month and really worrying about my application or if I can come back.
Please help me guys. Thank you.
Oh no! I also did pay $100 only. How did it become $255? Anybody here who paid $255???Hi Group,
Glad to find this forums with such updated application info. I have to admit the waiting is devastating which I checked the status every single day...
Here's some info about our case. I am currently applying for my wife for the SPR inland (both PR and OWP).
Timelines:
App Sent: Jun 28, 2017
AoR: Jul 27, 2017
PCC Request: Jul 27, 2017
We didn't know we could link our OWP application until yesterday (Thanks to this forum). I linked OWP to myCIC and received a message about missing Work Permit fee. It turned out that we needed to pay 255 (155 + 100) instead of 100 (OWP fee) for the OWP application. Have to say its very confusing, b/c I checked several times on their official website before hand which clearly separated the fees into two categories. Luckily, the note also said that they had already recovered the fees from our Right of PR fee (the 490 which I assume we could pay at a later time) which would cause no delay on our application process.
No other updates so far and I assume the OWP should be approved according to the thread. Finger crossed and best luck to everyone.
Yep I did as well. There is one fee for applying for a work permit that's $155 or so and then another "Open Workpermit Holder" fee that's $100. If it weren't an open work permit I guess it only would be the $155, but I suppose all of us apply for the open work permit so the total is $255.Oh no! I also did pay $100 only. How did it become $255? Anybody here who paid $255???
What a coincidence! Keep in touch.June 28th as well...come on come OWP's!!!
I paid the $255 it's just the way you interpret it your paying the application for a work permit and then essentially paying for holding an open work permitOh no! I also did pay $100 only. How did it become $255? Anybody here who paid $255???
