Any particular reason why ? Your family haven't had the TG celebration
Really no particular reasons, but it was never a tradition for us. It's like any other long weekend.

@sylvain1

I was wondering the same... not even Tourtiere?
Tourtière is a traditional meal for Saguenay and Lac St-Jean areas, but not really in other places. But I think that in general, Thanksgiving is not much celebrated in Quebec province. But I don't know any historic reason why it's like that.
However, I think we might go for some hiking over the weekend. Trees are very colorful already, so we might go to the provincial park few km north of Quebec city.

I participate but to me , most sees it as just getting together n eating without stopping to consider why, what , how.
For me this year!!!! The end to some anxiety. . freedom to move n work etc
So this one is special. Even amidst those who take so much for granted. It like when the primister gave a speech earlier this year. . . . immigrants can show more appreciation of getting here n being here. . natural citizens have no idea. . what causes jubilation when we land. So the primister said "I am jealous" am not jealous. . . I know the journey. . . I am thankful. . . very thankful

Really.... We even have one out for Thanksgiving/Christmas ;). I learned something new today!

Hiking sounds like fun. All three of us are sick now though (only I was elected to get anti-biotics; in my case it's not viral). But we have a cool spot in the Niagara Escarpment that we like to hike in. You hike along a creek for a while, then up the escarpment to an awesome view of the area, Lake Ontario, and Toronto in the distance across the lake :).

Sadly, I don't think we can do it this year....unless we go despite being sick....

Well, it depends what is considered as tourtiere, but the real one (meat in small cubes, potatoes, onion,...) is in Lac St-Jean and Saguenay area. They do a very similar meal in the east of Quebec, but they call it a different name (cipaille or cipâte). But what Montrealers or people from Quebec city refer to as tourtière, is a simple meat pie. This is quite different from the real tourtière.

Just for fun, do 3 different searches in google image:
1- tourtière
2- tourtière lac st-jean
3- cipaille

1 & 2 come back the same. That's what I associate to tourtiere. Minced-meat pie.

Am going to pretend I did not see these pictures lol if my wife sees them, she will start packing n be ready to go :p
It seems like a beautiful trail. . .
Am going to share with her. I know she will be excited to go:rolleyes:

Hi all,

We received SA and AIP in August. Have not heard anything after that. Will getting my MP involved finish up things soon ??
I have only lived in my country except travelling to Malaysia for few weeks and to Canada for 2 summers in a row.

Have to travel in end of November and want to know before buying the tickets.

thanks.

There is no way you will have a PR Card, even if you landed today. There is no way you, or an MP can speed that up. If the travel is required, there is no point in involving your MP. Just make sure that you have a valid re-entry document (Visitor Visa, if required).

I know PR card is not possible. As long as I have a COPR, I will get travel document later on.

Just was wondering if MP can speed us getting us a DM.
