Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum.
I have applied inland to sponsor my husband last year. We submitted medical upfront. Location-Toronto,ON

On the check status website it says under sponsorship application:

1. We received your application to sponsor ****** on April 6, 2016.
2. We started processing your application on May 5, 2016.

And under permanent resident application:

1. We received **** application for permanent residence on April 6, 2016.
2. Medical results have been received

There have been no changes since last year in cic.
Is it time to start calling them asking for update or is it a normal timeline.

definitely within timeframe but..according to what's going on and what Profiler said.. you should be hearing something pretty soon.

It makes sense, unfortunately. PGP incurs the highest cost to Canada. FC sponsorships generally are neutral, as most are younger, so they help offset the healthcare cost of the older applicants.

Economic classes are the ones they prioritize, because they are expected to net more than Canada has to spend to keep them..

Sad facts.. but reality is, Canada only has 35m ppl. Either we jack taxes, or We live with the system how it is...

I am not sure how does it make sense. In my opinion, PGP apps should be processed even faster, because often PGPs have no one to take care of and they never prioritize those cases. As citizens, we have all right to ask for this.

They only give 10k PGP visas each year, but took 40k Syrian refugees last year alone. In contrast, US only took 20k refugees while Obama was in office. Trump and Brexit happened for a reason, and that is too much liberalization.

I know how politics and economics work, but this is insane. I will play my card accordingly, though I only have one card.

Parent / grandparents sponsorship: they increased the limit from 5000 to 10000
Spousal / common law sponsorship: they took a 26 months processing time and they are reducing it to 13-14 months and they want to reduce it to 12 months.

So yes please use your card the next time around!

No worries, we will take more refugees. Once you are here, you will get free medical, shelter, allowance, what not.

Stop comparing refugees with FC/PGP sponsoring. It's really not fair to them. One of the reasons that made Canada so great was because of it's multicultural. And how it gets to be multicultural? Refugees intake (might want to take up on Canada history if you claim yourself to be Canadian) among one of it. If you are here complaining about refugee getting fist class priority then consider yourself lucky because it is not so much their case.
Yeah, it may take longer to sponsor your family (if it's genuine) but you are doing it with a peace of mind in your own safe home smoking who know what not worrying whether they will be a victim of bombing or whatever that these refugees went through. So please, stop bitching and start loving.

In my husband case we got extremely lucky on April 21 2017 they called me on a priviate number at 9:16am say hey your husband passport is expired on may 21,2017 I am like we still have time so I said can you at least bump up our date so she was like let me see what we can do so we left at that. At on April 21 2017 they called our representative and they figure out something around 3 pm on Friday April 21,2017 my rep was like your husband does not need a new passport than she forward the landing interview for us saying we have to go in to CIC Etobicoke on Friday April 28,2017 between 1 to 3pm so we got landing interview in a day cause we got AIP dm and landing interview on April 21 2017 but ircc agent got cic to push ahead

when did you get your CSQ?
Our timeline was unusually long for no obvious reasons, but my wife got CSQ in September, and we got SA, AIP and DM in March.

I got my CSQ in July 2016 only 3 months after I filed my application

This proccess made me and our marriage stronger and no one can divide us he's here for good and when they said to him congratulations now your a permanent residence welcome to Canada I just starting tearing up cause of 17 m9nths of stress
