Hi 2016 applicants - heads up

We are the Jan 2016 applicant:

We got a SA on Mar 10 2017 after 6pm.
and AIP on Mar 13.(just got it tonight forwarded from my rep)

they are really processing the Jan 2016 applicants now.
we are so happy and we will apply for OHIP
on Thursday.

Congrats I got SA on March 10 after 6pm to they just need proof of realtionship and that is it he passed everything when your landing our journey started december 15 2015

hi browning! just wanna ask if you renew your OWP? i think we have the same timeline... i havent renewed my OWP yet, i am still waiting for my tax refund .. i am planning to renew nextmonth april... my OWP valid until May 28 2017. thank you! i am stll safe to work? thank u

I'm not browning911, but I can answer this one. First a question: When is your passport valid until? Usually they issue OWP's for 2 yrs, or until the expiry of the passport -1 month. If you passport isn't valid passed May, then they won't re-issue.

That said, you can apply a few days before. Make sure that you:
- have a courier validate that your OWP has made it to CIC's mailroom before the expiry date (if you are sending mail),
- do not leave Canada until they have decided.

With those, you can continue to work under implied status.

I hope you are right profiler, there is an extremely important deadline in May for school that we hope to make, but PR has to be finalized before we can apply, if we don't make the May deadline we must wait for the entire next year May..... I feel like we will be waiting a whole extra year, better to be negative and pessimistic I think

First: You have to think positive about it. Once she has it, pretty much no one (sans a court) can take it away. So, it's worth the time (even though it might not seem like it now). Deal with each little problem as it comes.

Now, I have two questions that might or might not help steer your direction:
(1) Can she apply to the Uni before the process is complete? They surely won't be sending out acceptance letters before June/July. That said, must she prove status in her Uni app? I know when I went to school, they only asked for proof when it came to signing my student loan. She can probably get the process started. It does carry the risk, that, if she doesn't complete the PR before start of school, she'd be on the hook for the international student rate (yeah, I know it's a big risk -- but calculated -- like poker ). This is something you might want to run by the intake personnel at the Uni's enrollment office.

(2) Have you considered applying for a student wisa? As a stop-gap, so she can still apply now, and commute her status later?

Hi Botengcoke. Yes listen to what Profiler wrote.

My hubby got his OWP until 2018 because his passport expires in August 2018. Did you get your new passport already? Did you send the updated passport information to IRCC?
