Hello Guys,

Do we need to show any employment letter for spouse sponsership application? Both of then are in canada, but while applying we dont have jobs

You need to show how you will avoid using social assistance. Employment proofs, NoA's, etc. All ways to appease the government that you won't ask for assistance.

Thank you.

We were unemployed for the past 3 months due to marriage vacation. And we gor our earlier NOA documents. Will it be ok if we just submit these documents and mention that we came from vacation and looking for jobs.

If you have proof of savings that you can demonstrate that despite the dry spell, you will be ok without assistance, sure.

no, we applied inland he lives in Canada and we live together. He has been in Canada for 4 or 5 years now (student at first and then work permit). But his work permit expired in September 2016 and so he had to do restoration of status to visitor (valid until September 2017), his visa also expired at that time. We applied for OWP with the inland sponsorship app back in November and should get the OWP in end of Feb or March. But he has to go back home earlier than that. That's where the issues come. He can't apply for TRV from within Canada because he doesn't have valid WP or SP, so the other option is to apply for TRV outland. It's a bit of a complicated situation.

Wait for an OWP, that's what I would do. He will need a valid visitor visa/eta/exemption to cross the border. That's where the problem will come in. The OWP will help to alleviate the problem a little....

11g! Well my goodness, if I get anything close to that its going right into our house fund. I will definitely be filing for him then, I just wasn't sure what the expectation was given the circumstances. The extra they will probably get us will help with that stupid extension of work permit application I need to file on Monday. ::)

Spouse amount is $11,474 worth of federal non-refundable tax credits not a $11,500 refund. The refund would be this amount * the Federal rate (15%)
There is also a provincial portion but the amount and rate varies from province to province. Overall, this credit is probably worth a couple thousand dollars to you on your tax return (assuming you had income in 2016).

Anyone on this forum who has a spouse who is not working should claim this amount. You could get married on Dec 30 and still claim it.

CIC automated message now says they're processing applications before August 31... Fingers crossed that it won't take them too long to go through the Sept an Oct applications...

Edit:
Listened to the message again, it said they're processing applications before Wednesday August 31, 2016?? :o

That's the big unknown. We know they did process a lot of September -> November when they were testing out new processing methods to speed things up. We just don't know how many are left...
