Hello All, I'm beginning to notice that CIC is issuing AORs for applicants who applied after December 23. i'm just a little concerned as I have not heard back from CIC for my application which I submitted on Nov 16. Is there anyway I can find out what is the situation with my application ?

Same here... Our application was received by CIC on December 23rd but still havent got an AOR unlike others... A bit worried...

ah ok, the CIC websites actually tend to add to our frustrations, nothing like checking your status on the site every 2nd day for the last 8 months and it never changes (actually until last week when it actually changed for once, they took off a couple of lines of information! lol)

I would honestly like to just ignore all of it and just sit tight and wait for the email saying the PR is approved and finished or something, but that seems impossible to sit tight when you hear horror stories of people not getting mail or missing important calls, etc.... I requested the gcms notes a month or so ago which came, and were honestly pretty much a waste of effort

at least we got the OWP, that took almost 4 months but all of the sudden just arrived, we had tried to find out info online and even called the call centre on it but there was zero information anywhere until it just magically showed up in the mail.... so I think maybe the same will be the case with PR, we won't hear anything or be able to find out anything really useful until it magically shows up approved all of the sudden some day

This is exactly how I feel.

We had one of those issues where they sent two e-mails which we never received requesting updated forms. It was because we requested the GCMS notes that we found out they had sent two e-mails. Without the GCMS notes we would have been waiting around thinking everything was fine. Even when we contacted the call center they said everything was fine. This is perhaps the only good reason to request GCMS notes.

We have decided to not request any more GCMS notes until March 2017, since we submitted the application in March 2016. Hopefully by then we have SA.

I have almost forgot whole application after got OWP and got back to work.. But started today to think about it. How long it usually takes to get SA or some other step after AOR? I sent my application end of April and got OWP 4 months later, but haven't heard anything from CIC since then. Should I be worried? Mycic shows only they're doing security but nothing else.

I am Australian and in the process of my Spouse sponsoring me who is Canadian. I am currently on an IEC (International Experience Canada) Permit which expires in April 2017.

My question is about the Open Work Permit OWP that has been extended to December 2017. I want to apply for this as I would like to continue working while we wait for Permanent Residence status but may take 12 months. I have read that you will have to have Temporary Residence Status as a Visitor, Worker, or Student in order to be eligible to apply... Would be being on IEC work permit put me under having a status of a Worker.... I just assumed it would but maybe I am wrong...

Please help! I don't want to apply and spend all the money if I am not eligible.
Also if I'm not would should I apply under the status of a Visitor then?

We applied to OWP with our PR application while on IEC.

So my understanding OWP takes about 4 months or so... If I apply say now... and my IEC permit ends in April should I apply for a Visitor permit?? I don't want to drop out of status while my OWP is processing... Should I wait till the very last minute in case it does come through?

Can someone please shed some light on what exactly this means...

Do I get health insurance for a year... which will cover me now and when I get OWP till I receive my PR?
Or Can I get Health insurance from April 2017 when my IEC expires until I get my PR?

Hi Emily,
It might be beneficial to do this anyway. Providing the year give you time to get your OWP and to apply for provincial coverage. If you can swing it, I would try.

I'm now wondering if the technical glitches extends to AORs, where they would have sent the email, but we never received it. :'(, Not sure if the call center would help without the UCI #
