I am thinking to do my medical test in advance though it is not requested from CIC.
Do you think this is a wise decision to do it in advance, please advise.

We did, and we are wondering if we might loose the money we spent on it. It was submitted with our application, and they have yet to assess it.

That said, there is others here who did the same, and have already had it assessed.

They do have the option not to request another one, or just to request a simple part like the chest xray.

Going to Canada on study visa for one year (plus one year work permit). Will be getting married in home country with a Canadian PR around next year.
What type of spouse visa(Inland or Outland) should we applying for after marriage? What kind of visa is advisable ? INLAND or OUTLAND ?

Hi profiler,

Thanks for your reply.
I wanted to do it in advance so that I can speed up the process.
if CIC request it then it will take it one more month to complete.
I am wondering what should I do now, go for it or wait until they request for it.

I have 2 questions, I hope someone can answer. First one is about the work permit. I'm out of status so technically I can't apply for a work permit until I get my AIP but I heard you can apply for it and when you receive AIP, they'll send you the work permit with it, is that true? Should I do that or wait? I'm part of the backlog program, received AOR & AOR2.
Second question is, can I receive AIP without having the medical done yet? I don't want to delay my application anymore so wondering if I should get it done and send it to them now. I don't want to receive a lette asking for it and then delay receiving my AIP.
Thank you

Our thoughts exactly, that it would take one more month to complete if we wait for CIC to request. So we did upfront med after we received AIP. AIP was mid July, we are still waiting now. The ECAS site has updated to indicate med results are received, but we haven't linked it to myCIC yet so not sure if they've looked at it...

I think this really is a personal call, I know some people are waiting for a request just so that they get a better sense of progress, whereas if you do upfront, you won't know if they are starting the medical check...

I think it will depend on your plans for after your study visa. Are you planning to stay in Canada to work after finishing school? Applying inland will allow for open work permit, so you won't have to worry about not having a WP after your one year WP finishes.

You can do it.. but expect that they may ask for another. They expire after a yr.

@Zumbagirl I think, we all do I am sponsoring my husband inland and we started on December 14,2015 and dealing with a immigration consulant. And I check our status 3 times a day so in July we send my husband police record from Portugal which is clean and in line 2 it's says in process and line 3 it says mediCal results received still no decision made but in process. Once a week I email our consultant if there is any new request or for rrpf and I calledCIC and asked them what does it mean that my date of modified is July 25,2016 she says that an officer is looking at your file and some normally put new dates and some do not and she was like it will take 28 month's not 26 months so Everyone plus Zumbagirl we all need to keep postive

I wanted to share this cross post to the inlanders...
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/government-addresses-spousal-backlog-and-wait-times-t451920.0.html

It references the following IRCC directive regarding the streamlining announced June 13: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2016/ob624.asp

Now I am eager to see if we are in the line or not!

Good luck inlanders!

Hi Guys! In my humble opinion, you should do the medical, even if it might expire. IRCC has the discretion to extend the medical, if they choose to, especially with what Profiler just posted about the government fast tracking. We did the medical after submitting our applications and it shows it was passed on GCKey.

browning911: I am curious if you saw SIR in your GCMS notes at all?

Finally got my OWP!!!

Am I right assuming that:
As a holder of OWP I can legally stay in Canada, leave and re-enter without temporary resident visa, since I am visa-exempt nationality with valid eTA?
Of course only as long as OWP and eTA valid (respectively till I'll hopefully receive my PR)

Thank you
