Hello everyone, I asked the same question in inland 2015 post but it seemed like nobody had the same experience. I think I'd try asking here. I tried calling CIC many times but I couldn't get through.

Anybody had this experience? Please advise.

I am a December 30, 2015 applicant. I didn’t send OWP application with my PR application so I extended my Temporary Resident visa in March 2016 and it will be expired on October 4, 2016. In June 2016 I decided to apply for OWP and now I’m still waiting for it ( I sent my application to CPC – Vegreville).
In case I don’t get my open work permit soon do I have to extend my TRV again in September or am I under implied status?

Yes to be sure extend your TRV again at least a month before your status expires. Based on the posts here, the OWP process up to 120 days from the day CIC received it.

my wife is very similar to ur case. we applied inland family sponsorship without owp. one week before her 6 months visitor stay expired, we call cic and they said she does not need to extend her visitor stay but she needs owp. cic said during 4 month waiting for owp my wife is considered implied status ( legal stay)

my wife got owp within 96 days

I got my OWP in the mail today! Happy day!

Anyone have experience with this? I haven't sent in my medical yet, and I read online that means I can't work in medical or certain educational areas. However, the only listed conditions on my actual work permit are that I can't attend school and I can't work in businesses related to the sex trade (obviously!). So, can I work in medical or educational after all? Does anyone else have a work permit that states you can't work in those fields?

Open Work Permit is just that. You can work in whatever industry.

Same questions as I asked in SA topic, but it is more relevant here, so wondering if someone who is along the same timelines as me is able to link the application on GC KEY :

----------
I applied June 2016-Inland for my wife, I am a PR card holder living in Canada, is anyone from June 2016 able to link their PR/Work permit application on (https://clegc-gckey.gc.ca) ?

I input the right data but it still throws back an error either info is wrong or the app has still not been entered.

This is to check the status on the PR application and maybe Work permit if it allows?

Thank you!

Np. I know this because we have spoken to ServiceOntario MOHLTC about OHIP for my wife. It seems that there is two streams here: OWP + 6 months of employment, or AIP that are ServiceOntario's requirements for signing you up.

Also, see here for the document requirement list: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/temp_foreign.aspx .

Do you mean if we have AIP, we do not need to show 6 months employment? We can get OHIP just by showing AIP letter?

Thanks

That's correct. See: http://settlement.org/ontario/health/ohip-and-health-insurance/ontario-health-insurance-plan-ohip/who-is-eligible-for-ohip/

"You applied for permanent residence and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This means that you have "approval-in-principle." "

Maybe someone who submitted in June will answer. In the meantime, send a case specific enquiry on CIC website and see what they say. They will respond to you. Good luck!

I'm a July applicant. I was able to link both my PR and OWP apps few days after I got the second AOR, with app number - for PR and passport number - for OWP...

Do you have your app number yet? (It comes with the 2nd AOR letter)? Or... Are you sure you imput the right data there?

We didn't seem to get one with the letter we got... maybe we didn't get an AOR1? It's definately in process though -- they are working on background checks now myCIC says...

According to My GCKey they are not working on anything for us. At least once SA is received that would be Step 1 accomplished.

so today had an email to say my account has been updated. it now says:
Application/profile status Closed
Final decision This application has been approved
then in the messages section it says:
In Canada Approval Letter - August 26, 2016

so im guessing this means OWP has been approved and should be posted today maybe?!

so when i click on the link to open the message theres a PDF that says:
Permit - WP-EXT / Permis - PT-PROR
and is valid until August 2018
