I'm covering a few posters questions/comments in this post so bear with me.
Firstly WP-EXT on the OWP means Work Permit Extension, you had a valid permit at the time, which you could work with..(Study permit allows work) so your OWP is an EXTENSION of the right to work in Canada, it is absolutely nothing to worry about.
On this topic to those worrying about current work permits expiring before their Open Work Permit is approved, as long as you have applied prior to the old permit expiring you can continue working under your old permits terms and conditions after it's posted expiry date under implied status. (although if the old permit was an open one, I would not recommend changing employers until the new one comes...employers will just see the expired one and not employ you).
The same is true of those worrying about temporary residency, if you have applied for PR you have implied status while your application is being processed.
To the poster worrying about PCC validity, The latest information that CIC have sent out to members of the thread (including me) is PCC's should be less than six, not three, months old when the application is received. You can send an application in without the PCC and say it is to follow..IRCC accepts this, however you do not benefit from the 6 month clock stopping on the date of your application, if I was you I would send in a Case Specific Enquiry explaining what you have posted here and ask how you send the PCC in and to what address..only when IRCC have it in their hot little hands will the clock stop ticking.
Lastly, VERY confusing, they say they are processing May the 9th applications for work permits, yet here we have a May the 25th approved. Being self-motivated..yippee..thats only 8 days from my processing date, and I hope I'm getting processed by the same people, but not fair on those that are waiting in line.
I don't know, I run errands today, and it seems the world and his dog decided to post!
