hi Benlie, CIC got my application for PR and OWP on 11th May 2016 i can check them individually on ecas and myCIC but still cant link them, when i enter the details it always says no application found. To be honest i've given up trying with it.

Hi ringlands my application received last 16th may. I tried linking my account last august 9 and my application came up. Application number starting with W.

Any new update on your OWP?

no news on OWP still :(

when i log onto myGCkey thing that only shows the status of my OWP (with W... application number) and then once im logged in and i click to link an existing application to this account i fill it out with PR details - I.E> application number F.... and it never finds it with all combinations i use.

I think we are the same. The only thing you can do on that OWP on GCkey is to check that status (Clicking the Check the status/message). mine for now shows OPEN and the decision is not started. Once it finished, CIC will update that status.

Oh that's how you check it online? i thought just work permit and current processing times is 9 weeks.
Because other options is work permit extensions.

Congratulations!

When did the cic received your application?

I just got notice in MyCIC that my work permit has been approved! I applied May 25th, and I had sent it to Vegreville separately from my PR application which was sent in at the end of March 2016.

Overjoyed! :D Now to start applying on jobs...

I'm covering a few posters questions/comments in this post so bear with me.

Firstly WP-EXT on the OWP means Work Permit Extension, you had a valid permit at the time, which you could work with..(Study permit allows work) so your OWP is an EXTENSION of the right to work in Canada, it is absolutely nothing to worry about.

On this topic to those worrying about current work permits expiring before their Open Work Permit is approved, as long as you have applied prior to the old permit expiring you can continue working under your old permits terms and conditions after it's posted expiry date under implied status. (although if the old permit was an open one, I would not recommend changing employers until the new one comes...employers will just see the expired one and not employ you).

The same is true of those worrying about temporary residency, if you have applied for PR you have implied status while your application is being processed.

To the poster worrying about PCC validity, The latest information that CIC have sent out to members of the thread (including me) is PCC's should be less than six, not three, months old when the application is received. You can send an application in without the PCC and say it is to follow..IRCC accepts this, however you do not benefit from the 6 month clock stopping on the date of your application, if I was you I would send in a Case Specific Enquiry explaining what you have posted here and ask how you send the PCC in and to what address..only when IRCC have it in their hot little hands will the clock stop ticking.

Lastly, VERY confusing, they say they are processing May the 9th applications for work permits, yet here we have a May the 25th approved. Being self-motivated..yippee..thats only 8 days from my processing date, and I hope I'm getting processed by the same people, but not fair on those that are waiting in line.

I don't know, I run errands today, and it seems the world and his dog decided to post!

Could it be, you applied for PR end of March, so you benefit from the 4 month max processing, even though your OWP got there on May the 25th, they have honored your march application date...and did you out of line...in fact your processing is late if we base it on end of March (approx 148 days)..but early for may the 25th if they had left you in place (only 90 days). Did you by chance phone CIC helpline and ask about the OWP lately? Someone looking at your file could have sent a note saying you are beyond the 4 month processing for OWP, not realizing you applied nearly a month later for your OWP than your processing date.
