Thanks! And congrats to the other people who got approved. I am sure that they will get caught up with the other applications soon, keeping my fingers crossed for everybody!
Sipfarms, thanks! I just checked my ECAS and it still just states "Application received" - I have a feeling that nothing will change until an actual decision is made.

A question for those who have more experience: I haven't done a language test - do I have to expect to be asked by CIC that I need one as well? All that was stated in my email was that I should pay the RPRF as soon as possible, nothing else has been requested.

don't need language test for this immigration category

This is great news. Not that I'm worried, but I kept thinking about it since being asked about it in one of the forms... Never got around to actually read up on it again until today. ;) So many good news, such a great day!

Hello everyone,

I submitted my PR application and OWP on July 12, 2016 - yeah, 2 days ago. I got a FedEx confirmation that my package arrived at CIC yesterday, July 13.
I already have a CIC account from my previous tourist visa application so I tried to link my OWP and PR - paper app to my account; nothing happened. Do you have any idea how long should I wait before try again or how is CIC supposed to contact me for updates?

I'm sorry if my issues sound silly but I'm new to this, I'm new to everything and I also have completed both applications by myself, no lawyers, nothing, so I'm a lil freaked out.

Thank you for your help.

MM

at the very least, until your package is actually opened, you won't be able to connect it. some people can't connect it even after receiving an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) from CIC. there really is no standard, so it's a wait and see situation. it's certainly going to take some time...it is doubtful your application has actually been opened yet. CIC generally contacts the sponsor first by email. Sometimes they send regular mail, though with the Canada Post issue, it seems they are relying more on email.

Have anyone April 2016 applicant got AIP yet?

Apr 29 here - we haven't received SA/AIP yet.

I may be talking through my backside (have been known to do so in the past) but looking at the spreadsheet is it possible they are doing a certain month at a time based on application dates in batches, after identifying they are straightforward? Instead of the old way of working on one application for say a day then sticking it at the bottom of the pile for 3 months or more? Again happy to stress I'm a layman, guessing like the rest. Just basing that hunch on dates, certain batches seem to get same dates for key events (except the OWP if included in the original pack, that's handled by a totally different dept, and does seem to be first come first serve). If that was the case I would surmise they have started working on April now (I saw a march 29th app got AIP). I'm expecting my month, June, to start getting good news in Mid to late August...well I can hope.

Funny, I was just thinking about the same thing when I looked at the google docs... My sense is that it is a combination of straightforward applications, dates, and new case officers being hired and taking on new cases as they come in. Happy to hear more ideas or if anyone else has more background information!

For the longest time I was worried that our application might not be straightforward, but after reading so many stories here, and seeing how things are progressing for my app, I think that I most likely am in this category.

I actually also wonder if our applications are being "farmed out" to different offices, and this affects times as well...any old members got input?
