That would be great because I've tried every combination under the sun to try & create a link and I get nothing. Applied for work extension because already have an open work permit due to expire.

Apparently it doesn't work for everybody yet, just found that out in the "Foreign Workers" part of this forum. Can't connect my app either :(

We received your application to sponsor --- on March 18, 2016.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on April 28, 2016.
We started processing your application on April 27, 2016.

We received --'s application for permanent residence on March 18, 2016.

My questions are; how long does it take to receive the next step (assuming it's AIP?)? Also, when can I apply for the OWP if I'm out of status?

Hello everyone,

I have noticed somthing.. I have received Aor but it does not mention that we have started processing your application.. :( :o

So For me it goes like this (missing 3rd point)

1.We received your application to sponsor --- on March 01, 2016.
2.We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on April 22, 2016.

We received --'s application for permanent residence on March 01, 2016.

This is very strange, any clues..please help.anybody else in similar position?

Thanks :)

did you extend your OWP online or thru paper?

Through paper with the PR application. Lodged 17 Feb 2016.
Went through the whole process. Temp Residence, Work Permit/Extensions, Spouse permit application lodged, Used UCI & Family Name, Filled in the details & it told me that the application has already been linked. Got all excited but only linked application is an online application I just lodged to change address details. :(

Beats me what I've done wrong to tell me that it's already linked but it doesn't appear.

sorry by me, i meant my sponsors application was missing the third part, does that just mean it has not been processed yet? im concerned as everyone else seem to have got the processing message 1 day prior to the Aor message.

Also do you only get a uci number if you application is complete?

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's taken me so long to discover this thread - it's AMAZING!

I am a US citizen and my partner is a Canadian citizen. We submitted an inland common-law application + open work permit application together on January 15th.

We heard from CIC (I guess this is the "AOP"?) in early March: the spousal and PR applications were received on January 18th, and the spousal application began processing on March 4th.

I am also desperately hoping my OWP comes SOON! I am so excited to start working in Toronto (for now I have been working online), and I also need the OWP to visit the States for a family wedding in June.

After reading this thread, I also tried to link myCIC to my paper OWP applicaiton, but the site said it couldn't find it... :(

I am really encouraged by the fact that others have received notification of approval for their OWP - anybody have it in hand yet who applied in December or January?

Cheers!

Emily

I followed the instruction for linking application on Mycic account then successfully linked it. Please try more times and make sure you selected right answers for every questions. I remembered at the first attempt I didn't choose "wp under inland pr application" for a question, it shows app cannot be found.
Double check everything then try again!

I've tried a number of times, and no luck. :( Here's what I did:

1. Entered myCIC
2. "Link an existing application to this account"
3. "What did the applicant apply for?" --> Temporary Residence --> Work permit and extension
4. Selected "Family Name, Given Name, and Date of Birth" (I have no UCI or Application Number for the OWP, right?)
5. Entered in Family Name, Given Name, and DOB
6. Entered in City and Country of birth; Passport number, country, issue and expiry dates
7. "What type of work permit are you applying for?" --> Open (initial application or extension)
8. "Current country of residence" --> Canada ; "Current marital status" --> Common-law ; "Which situation applies to the resident?" ---> (last option: "Applied for permanent residence as a spouse or common-law partner in Canada")
9. "Search for my application"

Anybody else have the same problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Maybe that's because you don't have a UCI so they cannot locate your application. People may have same names. This is what I guess.

Or maybe you just sent your application? We tried to link the application after 3.5 months. Trying too early is not going to give you an answer

It is not allowing me to link either. Did the same as you.

We do have a UCI number but the UCI number is under the sponsor's name and the work permit is under applicant. I wonder if that is the issue. The GC account is under the applicant's name. So confused.

When do applicants get their own UCI? I would imagine not until well into the process...

Anyway, good to know it's not just me that's having problems with the site.

Your OWP will NOT guarantee re-entry; it will even say so right on the document.

Too bad you didn't submit an Outland application (even though you are IN Canada), because most Americans are completing the entire process in ~ 6 months.

If for any reason you are denied re-entry into Canada, your inland application is toast.

Good luck!
