Hi Profiler,

Thanks for getting back!

I am applying as a spouse. We are married for about 15 months now, so I submitted proof of living together for the past year and everything.

I don't have my OWP as of yet, and don't think I will get it until end of February (looking at the timeline). I only have AOR.

Noted on that I shouldn't leave while application is in process. I just happen to get unlucky and need to come back home for a bit... :s
I have left and returned multiple times while my application has been in process on while on a multiple entry TRV and have entered at YVR, YYC, YUL, and YYZ without any problems. I currently have a study permit, but the same rules apply to a visitor. At the border, one of the things CBSA is trying to assess whether or not you intend to abide by the conditions of your visa, which means leaving the country before you overstay. I seem to be the only voice on here advocating travel while the application is in process, so please take this advice with a grain of salt as profiler says. In my opinion, I think it is wrong to assume that you are effectively trapped in Canada while the process is ongoing and would not take it as a reason to miss whatever obligation you have to attend to back home.

Look up 'dual intent' to brief yourself on what they are looking for when you cross the border back in to Canada.

Hello, I am new here. I don't know if I'm posting it correctly. I've been reading this topic for quite a while and as I can see everybody here got their AOR already. I'm worried because I passed my application August 29, 2016, Received Aug. 30, 2016. Until now haven't heard anything, No AOR. Nothing. Am I the only one whose in this situation? :(

Did you try finding the application in myCIC?

Thanks for the reply. I checked it on the cic website, it always say Application Received. I called the call centre. The lady just said they received the application but haven't started it yet. I asked her why I didn't received AOR or any email from them, she said I don't really need that, she gave me the application number instead, instructed me to link that to my application, this is all I have to do she said, unfortunately been trying it but no luck at all.

@Profiler: Hi, can you please help me about a situation I have. My wife's (sponsor) passport is going to expire in May, 2017. She is planning to renew it now. Do we have to notify CIC about this? If yes, when ( when applied for new passport or after getting new passport?)? and how should we do it? I am guessing through CSE I can scan and upload pages of passport but should we also send a photocopy by courier?

Thanks
Sam

Same here, my husband has been traveling frequently while the application is in progress, as much as once a month or every other month, and has never had issues. I think as long as you have all the right paperwork and explain the situation they would not refuse you entry. Unless they're major jerks or your story is highly suspicious.

Hello Profiler, I need your expertise here.

We received the AOR in November 2016, medical is done, paid for pr app as well, and waiting for our next letter from cic. Our lawyer told us there will be an interview but that would be only to pick up the PR card. She said in few months we will get the interview date. However, going a little ahead of time, my husband has an expired French travel document that he can only renew in France, therefore, is he allowed to apply for Canadian travel document after he receives his landing? Please tell us your thoughts.

Thank you

Did the application number start with F or X?

Hey Sam,
Once you have the new travel document, photocopy and upload via CSE and let them know it changed due to renewal.

Expertise is such a strong word.

Your lawyer sounds like she has been sniffing the glue pretty heavily. On one hand, I am totally envious. Those pink elephants she must be seeing must be impressive.

That out of the way, she is ridiculous; absolutely out to lunch. I passed my wife's application in back in March, and we have yet to see a landing interview request. CIC is working in first in - first out fashion right now. So, when we get ours, there will be about 6-9 more months for you to wait for yours, give or take a bit. No one can really guess, but that's a way more realistic guess than 'a couple months'. WOW!

Assuming he is an inland applicant, he will need to renew his French passport, then advise CIC of the renewal via CSE, once he has it. Photocopy/scan and send the pdf to them. When he lands (the interview your high lawyer eluded to), they will complete the process, and request a PR Card for him, and give him a COPR. The COPR is what he needs to cherish with his life :). That *could* be used if he needed to leave, while he waits for his PR Card.

Hey Sam... How's it? You bet on the reply -- sorry I was a bit late. I was in the neighbourhood of Carol (and possibly Maria/Browning911; I know we passed through the intersection Carol has mentioned a couple times.) all day with my family. We headed downtown Toronto to take my son to Casa Loma :).

Just a copy. Inlanders bring their passports to the local VO and present them during the landing interview...

Hmm, what's this about.... How do the applications differ based on what letter the application number begins with? Just curious

X == Temp; until AOR is sent
F == Perm.

Thanks profiler. It starts with F. What does this mean?
