No, you are not. That's a very good information because I dint realize I have to apply for travel document from outside the country. Thought it could be done from the inside before I travel. Do you have any suggestion of where to visit? Bahamas ranks very high on my list at this point....
Given the latest hurricane season, I would say Bahamas might be the only place that might be able to host visitors for now...

Exactly, every information I found online about visitor's guide to the Caribbean supports 'travel to the Bahamas' at this point. I will keep researching and make the best decision. Thanks for your contribution

Timeline update:
July 29, 2016 - Application received
June 29, 2017 - AIP
September 25, 2017 - DM
... and now landing interview got scheduled for October 24, 2017

"Your sponsor must bring photo identification and proof of address." - Drivers licence with the address on it is enough in terms of proof of address?
@ihopethisworksout where is your landing interview scheduled? I got my DM on September 25th and still no info about my appointment... They're not really in rush... My IRCC is in Etobicoke. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/members/ihopethisworksout.607866/

Question, landing scheduled for October 24 might have to go to the States early in November, less than a week in duration, related to work, is that an issue in terms of timing with regards to any documents i need to have.

Currently in Canada on the spousal sponsorship work permit, working for a Canadian company.

Do you currently need a visa to enter Canada? if yes, then it is a problem; because as soon as you get PR all your visas and work/study permit become void. And you will receive your PR card only about 60 days after your landing. There are ways to order a travel document while abroad, but if you travel for less than a week, that will not be enough time to get it.

Hi all! I officially landed August 29th (woo hoo!) this year, and am wondering if the 60 day processing time for PR Cards is still accurate? I'm hoping to travel back stateside for Thanksgiving. If so, I should receive it around the 26th of October. Thanks!

No I do not, since i have the spousal work permit and otherwise don't require a visa to enter Canada (EU passport).

I am also Etobicoke.
So I see that processing applications "in order" is some kind of a fairy tale... But congrats anyways!

I have similar situation, I have to go to USA for business trip end of November. My solution is to cross border by car and fly from Buffalo - then I can do it with just COPR letter. Providing that I get it anytime soon...I also have EU passport, but I don't want to risk not coming back to Canada

Canada’s entry requirements are changing
Permanent residents (PR) of Canada must carry and present their valid PR card or permanent resident travel document (PRTD) when boarding a flight to Canada, or travelling to Canada on any other commercial carrier. If you do not carry your PR card or PRTD, you may not be able to board your flight, train, bus or boat to Canada.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your PR card is still valid when you return from travel outside Canada, and to apply for a new PR card when your current card expires.

Returning by private vehicle
There are other documents you can use to enter the country.

When you return to Canada, apply for a PR card if you plan to travel outside Canada again.

Some examples of private vehicles include, but are not limited to: a car, truck, motorcycle, or recreational vehicle that you own, borrow, or rent. It is a vehicle not available for public use.

They do not specify that you can use your COPR letter. I have to do some more research about it. Does anyone had similar situation or knows something more?
