Sponsorship through Bogota 2015-2016

Well, two days ago the status in the CIC site changed to process closed and approved. Yesterday We received the email asking my wife to go to the embassy in Bogota to pick up her passport. Funny thing is that They only allow passports to be picked up on Wednesdays, so We have to wait another 6 days to get it. We are very excited and planning the flight in a couple weeks ! I can't believe how fast the whole thing took. 4 months and two days. It really looks like Bogota VO and the whole CIC are working way faster than before.
Anyone else got any news ?


We haven't received an email yet. When did they receive your passport? They received our on the 23rd because of a mix up. We sent it for the 21 but they couldn't find it. They officially received it the 23rd. Why did they ask you to go pick it up? Are you located in Bogotá?

Hi Jorlando. We sent it on the 20th, and according to Servientrega was received on the 21st. there was no acknowledgement from the embassy, We just trusted that Servientrega notice was correct. after that nothing. As they asked for an address to deliver the passport my wife waited everyday asking the security desk if anything had been delivered day after day. But then suddenly We both got the email telling Us that the process was finalized and the passport was ready to be picked up.
And yes, My wife lives in Bogota nearby the embassy. maybe that is why they ask for her to pick it up instead of courier it.

Congrats Sponsoring123!! That's great news. My ecas still says in process. My wife's passport was received by the embassy on the 26th so hopefully we get some good news next week.

Hey Jorlando. Nothing yet and ecas still says in process. I see you said there was a mixup with the embassy not finding your passport when you sent it. How were you able to contact them to confirm that they received it?

I called the embassy and they gave me a email to contact them about the issue. Then a few days later they sent an email confirming they have it and the day immigration officially received it.

Outro. Any information? We have no heard anything. We emailed that email and all we got was that it's being processed. Nothing else. I don't know how we were less than a week behind sponsoring123 and we have not heard anything.

This is so frustrating.

Hi Jorlando. We have not heard anything either. Ecas still says in process. They wrote you back? We have sent emails to the address you gave me and to the one on the site, but both of them have not responded. Not even to confirm that they have my wife's passport.

Hi Jorlando, my wife went to the embasy wednesday Jan 18th. They were very nice and had her passport and C.O.P.R ready. gave her some instructions for landing and wished her good luck.
She is flying to Toronto this friday !

I'm new here and very happy I found this place
My husband is from Tabio, Colombia and we started the sponsorship process last year.
Timeline looks like this :

Med's Done.....: Oct. 5, 2016
App. Sent........: Oct. 11, 2016
AOR Received..: Nov. 2, 2016
File Transfer....: SA: Nov. 10 / AOR2: Nov. 16, 2016
Additional Proof.: Dec. 6, 2016
CSQ received...: Jan. 26, 2017

Are any of you familiar with what's next?
I was under the impression that everything was 'blocked' until we received (finally) CSQ last week, although GCKey still says that the background check and the final decision are 'not started', and the review of additional document is void even if we sent more proof of our relationship at the end of December...

Also, I believe my husband will have to go through an interview since our relationship is fairly recent and that might raise some concerns for immigration. Is this the next step?

Hi lamontana. welcome. I see you applied one month after I did. I applied Sep 8th, 2016. You are applying via Quebec, so they have maybe an extra step or so. Our process took just over 4 months, but We were not asked for interview or any other supporting papers. In your case that may delay things a bit, but I see that all processes are going very fast in Bogota these days.
Don't pay much attention to the status in the CIC website. for Us things didn't necessarily reflected what was going on versus what the site said.
The wait is always hard, but patience is the word.
