Sponsorship Personal History

Hi all,

I'm preparing for applying for a spousal sponsorship some time in the new year, but recently noticed two jobs while I held as an international student in Canada had been declared with inaccurate start/end dates on a Study Permit application in the past --- one had the wrong starting date, one had the wrong ending date. My SP and PGWP were unaffected --- should I simply correct these date on the IMM5669 moving forward and provide an LOE, or this is a bigger issue? I'm not going through EE and all work were legal.

@legalfalcon any lead would be appreciated!

Hi, honestly job history is not really required to be on the dot for sponsorship. Just provide an LOE and you should be fine. If the officer feels like they would need more information, they'll ask you for it. BoL!

Thanks -- it wouldn't be a qualifying jobs even if I applied through EE (I would be eligible once I bank enough hours). Thought I'd just check how much this little thing in Personal History will affect the process. Will consult a lawyer as well.

Yes, getting a second opinion is also great! Hope it all works out!

Your spousal sponsorship details and forms gotta be accurate. I partially agree with the member above that your job details don't have to be on the spot for sponsorship, well they should be, in fact every detail that is on point will make your application move faster without hurdles. The errors in your past applications if they were all approved in the past won't affect the sponsorship application. Just make sure this time it's all correct and if anything, this is something minor and if needed, IRCC will ask you for additional info on dates which I doubt would happen. Your past experience dates on study permit or work permit shouldn't affect much but again don't take my word or anyone's word for it. Get a few more opinions then go about it. Good luck.
