Sponsorship - Financial requirements

I am in the situation where the sponsoring spouse is a stay-at-home parent with no separate financial resources. The forms say that income is not a prerequisite, but the form asks for income (I saw below that someone responded that this is not a problem) and the attachments ask for the Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency. What to do if there isn't one? My spouse is not required to file tax returns and does not receive a Notice of Assessment. Thanks.

There are no financial prerequisites for sponsorship. However, how does your sponsor live. This person must get money from somewhere. Wherever that is, that is what should be put on the application.

Thanks. I support him. I am the primary (sole) wage-earner and he is the child-care provider

Are you living in Canada? Do you derive your income from working in Canada? If so, do you have a work permit. These are questions that you must answer for yourself. Your supporting him or her is fine. However, you certainly want to avoid exposing yourself to unwanted scrutiny by officials.

I suggest that you ask PMM. PMM is our most knowlegable blogger. He/she is very good with complicated visa issues. Just start a new topic and start it with "Help PMM."
