Greetings folks!

I am looking for some help regarding sponsoring my spouse to Quebec. She is curently a resident in Costa Rica and I am a Canadian PR since 2007. I landed in Toronto but, migrated to Montreal soon after because of work.

We recently got married in Costa Rica and now I am planning to sponsor her in Canada. She is not living with me yet and is still in Costa Rica.

Can some one please guide me if I have to do a inland or a outland application. Also, does she need to make a medical appointment even before submitting her application or it can be done later once the file is accepted?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If she's not living in Canada, she can't apply inland; outland is better in most situations anyway.
She should do her medical exam before filing the application. You are expected to send proof of your medical exam (a form the doctor will give you) with your application. Then the doc sends the results of the exam and they match it up with your application. When you are working on the application, you should see this as one of the items on the document checklist.

Good luck!

I am not sure how different the forms are for inland vs. outland--I only have ever done the outland application :)

As for applying to Quebec, yes, it is a slightly different process. The instruction guide and document checklist are very helpful in walking you through this. They tell you which forms you need. Essentially, you don't have to fill out as many forms initially for an application to Quebec (the document checklist tells you which ones aren't required). Quebec handles part of the application and they contact you when the time comes for you to send more information to them.

OK Abdelia so if I am getting this right.....I get all the documents ready according to the check list and mail it to the Missisauga office...right? No need to contact the embassy in Costa Rica....am I correct?

That is my understanding, yes! I don't think you need to contact any embassy about anything. Just download the instructions and forms, read very carefully, fill everything out, attach more evidence as proof that your relationship is genuine than you think you need (photos, emails, cards and letters, etc.), get her medical report and police clearance (probably do the police clearance first because it can take some time) and then organize all the papers as logically as you can and send it (via FedEx or similar) to Missisauga. I think that's about it!

Good luck!

Sponsoring is a little different from Québec...

As they said before, you have less form to complet and send to Mississauga...

But when you get the approbation of Mississauga, you now need to process with the MICC ( Ministère de l'immigration et des communauté culture )

With a copy of the approbation of Mississauga you need to fill 2 forms, one form the sponsor and one from the person that are sponsoring. And pay a 250$ more for this processing.

i can't put i link !!! i imagine is because i am a newby here !!! sur for the immigration quebec web site...
