Question for you guys: My wife and I plan to apply for parents' sponsorship in Jan 2016. The application will include NOAs from 2014, 2013 & 2012. Both of us will be moving abroad permanently soon, probably to the US or Middle East. How will this affect the parents' sponsorship?

We have a forwarding address, bank accounts etc. (but no houses that we own) in Canada. We also plan to file taxes every year, but chances are we will not be taxed in Canada as we do not have any significant ties. As a result, our 2015 NOA will show slightly less income, and 2016 will probably show $0. Any insight on this will be helpful.

Thanks.

If you leave Canada you will not be able to sponsor your parents. You are required to reside in Canada for the entire period between when you submit your application until your parents land as permanent residents.

Also remember this immigration category is to to reunify families. If you yourself are leaving Canada permanently as you say in your post then you definitely don't meet the requirements of a sponsor under this category.

Thanks. Any reference from the CIC's website about this?

I have a question I could not find answer from CIC :-[, and I hope one of you guys can help me!

I am preparing the financial evaluation form. Question 7 is the total of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. I know for me in particular it should be 4, being me, my husband and my parents.

My question is what should I put in question 3 A). According to the instruction it should be current undertaking including myself so 4 again.

Then, is there a mistake to add myself twice (#2 count again for myself).

Is there anyone else wondering about this part of the form? And what should I put for question 3 A)?

Thank you! Adele

My husband and I own a business and we are currently meeting the low income cut off from 2012-2014. But we are taking a dividend from our business now, meaning it's not a wage that would be reflected on T4. Instead, it would be reflected on T5 and on notice of assessment it would be an investment income.
Do anyone know if this is still considered and calculated towards the low income cut offs?
Thanks!

all income that shows on line 150 of your assessment is what CIC use to calculate your income level. line 150 would include your investment income.

"To sponsor your parent or grandparent, you must be living in Canada."

In your case there is no point sponsoring your parents. You won't qualify as soon as you leave Canada and the application will be ultimately refused.

Hi there,

I am looking to sponsor my parents in 2016 as well, and have encountered a couple of challenges - appreciate if anyone could share your experience or advice.

1. I need to provide the proof of marriage certificate of my parents, but my parents don't have one. They were married way back in mid 1960's in a small town in China and never really had a certificate. I am wondering if other documents could be accepted as long as it can prove they are a married couple, or they have to get a certificate from somewhere?

2. Do all the "photocopy" of documents need to be certified true? Including the NOA issued by CRA?

Thanks,

CIC updated processing time page for PGP. Now sponsor assessment has been reduced to 45 months from 50 months. Given the fact that for the updated PGP we sent both pr and sponsorship application together and CIC is not going to request new pr forms, the entire process may become even faster...

This is encouraging. The links claims to working on application received by Nov 2011. Still I find may 2011- nov 2011 thread very quite. not sure how many people get document update request.

According to CIC, the procedure for July - November 2011 applicants is diffferent:

Applications received between July 18, 2011 and November 4, 2011:

Sponsors who submitted applications between July 18, 2011 and November 4, 2011, will have already submitted the IMM 0008 for their parent(s) or grandparent(s) with their IMM 1344. Once eligibility has been reviewed, the sponsor will be instructed to submit an updated IMM 0008 and all supporting documentation to the CPC-M.

Apparently, they dont need to submit all the forms again, so probably that's why it's quiet.

No they have been asked to submit the same forms and documents, just like last year. Nothing has changed

From what i read at the thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t316460.0.html most people who received doc update request applied before July 2011 and for those who applied between May - November 2011 there were no mentioning that they need to fill undertaking form. They should have streamlined the procedures. It is very sad if they have not.

Not sure which undertaking you are referring too. But if you see the post on the first page of the thread you mentioned in your post a list of forms and documents requested in 2014 by CIC is listed and from the people I have been in contact with this year the same documents have been requested from them as well.

Applicants who applied in 2010 and 2011 have to provide same documents to CIC. so far nothing seems streamlined. lots of people still from last year waiting for sponsorship approval on 2010-2011 thread

I am just referring to official publications by CIC. I posted a link to OB353 above.
The thing is that procedures have been changed on July 18, 2011. Before July 18, 2011 applicants first submitted only sponsorship forms. And then if it's approved, applicants were asked to submit PR forms.

After July 18, 2011 applicants submitted both sponsorship and PR forms together. That's why I expect the second half of 2011 to be processed faster. Yes, CIC has the right to request any additional and updated documents at any stage, but it's not required to do it for every applicant.
