The problem is that a backlog of 43000 in Jan 2015 or Dec 2015. If the later then it would take almost 2 more years to clear during 2016 and 2017.
If it is Jan 2015 then only about 20000 would be left in the backlog by Dec this year so technically all the backlog would be cleared by the end of next year in a perfect situation.
According to the Action Plan graph, it's mid-2015. The minister gave same info well back in May, 2013. So, it's all prediction until CIC publishes some recent data.

But since the last batch (May-Nov of 2011) before CIC paused PGP program, getting response from CIC recently makes me think they are on track.

What's the form to use if I want to update the birth of a child and update my change of status from permanent resident to Canadian citizen? and where can I find this form? Thanks
I had both situations like yours.

For Changes in Your Personal Circumstances (such as a birth or adoption of a child):
You have to notify CPC-Mississauga via email. There are direct links here which just pops up with addressee and subject of your email. This link is nothing but After You Apply section of PGP application page on CIC website where it states when and how to contact CIC re: PGP sponsorship application.

Email To: CPCM-EXTCOM @ cic.gc.ca
Subject: Change in personal circumstances
FYI, I attached my child's birth certificate with this email.

Canadian Status Change:
Although I became Citizen recently, I did not bother to contact CPC. It doesn't say anywhere in the above link. Moreover, my E-Cas shows that my citizenship application is now complete which means CIC has a record of it.

But you want, can add this info with the same email I guess.

Thank you for the info. I sent them an email today and got an automatic response that it was received. Did you get any other email confirmation afterwards that these changes were made and applied to your file?

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I submitted PGP for my mother who's currently living in Canada for the last 3 years using Visitor visa (was extended 3 times since 2012). Her PGP application showing in ecas that it was accepted on 2-Jan-2015 and we have not received any rejection yet so far (keep our fingers crossed). The application process was done through our lawyer office.

My question is regarding her visitor visa that's expiring this month. Do you recommend us to apply for new super-visa or just regular visitor visa extension while waiting for her PGP application process?. Which visa do you think would give her a better chance of getting another visa extension (super-visa or regular visitor visa)?.

I am just a bit worry about it and she'd already submitted an application for regular visa and what if it got rejected, can she still apply for super-visa then in order for her to stay in the country?. We'd like to keep her here in Canada since two of her children are here to take care of her.

Thanks in advance for your attention and answers.

We submitted our application in Jan 2015 too.
CIC is still processing the old files from 2011. Our application wont be processed until next year or so.

My mom has been here since 2013 May on Super Visa. We extended it once this May, that allows her to stay until next March.
I would apply for another extension then, if got rejected, I just have to bring her back to our home country, then come back again in a month or so.
My family has been in really bad shape like forever since I was a kid. We don't really have a "home" there.
My mom is almost 70. She'd be still working and paying her own rent if I didn't force her to come here staying with me. Now she's very much enjoying her new life here.
That's why I would do my best to avoid having her back home and live alone. If she is required to to go back, I'd try to make it as short as possible.

For your case, if you got rejected this time. I wouldn't suggest to get a Super Visa immediately.
It's never a good thing to let CIC has the impression that your mom refuses to leave Canada.

You can bring her back to home country, apply Super Visa there, then come back. She'll get 2 years stay next time.
Later apply extension when the visa expires in 2017, this way she can probably stay here til 2018. That's my prediction of when our PGP will get approval.

Wish you luck on your mom's visa matter.
Hope everything goes well on your PGP application too. Cheers!

Hey 741953,

I'm guessing that your mom had valid SuperVisa but not stay-permit when she applied for extension this May. Will her visa be still valid in next March?

In my case, my mom is here with me on SuperVisa from Nov 1, 2014. Her 2-year stay permit and visa will expire on Oct 31, 2016 and Jan 17, 2017 respectively. Her PP is expiring on the latter as well. Suppose I renew her PP within Canada before Oct, 2016. Will she be still eligible for an extension beyond visa expiry date? There is no point of extending her stay-permit for just 3 months.

As I never applied for an extension before; I don't know how it works. Is it just for stay-permit extension or visa too? Please, share your insight.

I am preparing the form IMM 5768, knowing this will be updated slightly in half a year. I am quite confused with the calculation for question #3 A) current undertaking. According to form IMM 0008 the number should include myself, which seems to be redundant as #2 count myself as 1.
I am applying for my parents with my husband. So it should be a family of 4. However, #7 total number of persons adding #2,3,4,5,6 indicating 5 ppl.
Can anyone please help me with this question?
Thanks so very much!

Hi Guys,
I have applied for my parents in 2011, and all was going well until I got laid off in 2015, then CIC requested a review for my income in 2014, because earlier I was in Quebec and applied form there (which is OK, except that they asked for a recent employer letter) . My questions is : If I submit the documents now, probably they will eventually refuse granting my parents PR because of the 3 years income rule.
Shall I just ignore their deadline and wait for another 3 years (which I really hate to do) or just send them the papers now?
Will they just end the process, or will they ask me to apply again in 3 years?

I'm thinking of moving back to Quebec. Will this help? or there will be the few months where my income did not meet the requirements in 2015?

your knowledge and insight will be appreciated

I'm not sure what you mean by waiting three years. If CIC has requested proof of income from 2014 - then you have to provide it. If you fail to provide what they have asked for then you should expect your application to be refused a few months after the deadline for submitting the additional information passes. Ignoring CIC's request and waiting isn't an option available to you. So to answer your question - they will end the process if you don't provide what they have asked for. They won't ask you to apply again if you are refused - it will be up to you to decide whether to reapply or not.

Ok, I should send them the income for 2014 , this should cause no issues, but I'm looking ahead, what if they ask again for 2015?
Will moving back to Quebec help (only one year of income, lower requirements)? or will they still be asking for out of Quebec 2015 income?
Do I have to physically move to Quebec now, or I can check the (me and the sponsored persons intend to live in Quebec) box ? and process Quebec's CSQ there?

Hi Rossei,

The extension we applied was only for stay permit, not visa renewal.

My mom's Super Visa is valid until 2022 (issued in 2012, valid for 10 years, multi entry). Back then I had my mom got her passport renew just before applying for Super Visa, so her passport will be valid until 2022 too. We don't have to worry about visa renewal. All we need to keep track is the length of her stay, and make sure we apply for extension in time.
My mom first entry to Canada was May 2013. We applied for a visa extension one month before her stay reached the two year limit, ie May 2015.
It's fairly easy. Just submit the application online, pay the fee, then do a medical exam. It's done.

Your mom's case is a bit tricky...
There're 3 things you need to do: extend the stay, renew the visa, renew the passport.
I would say renew passport first, apply extension for stay permit, then renew the visa (or apply again for a new one?)
I suggest renewing passport first coz I believe with a new passport, she has a better chance getting a longer extension, rather than only 3 months up to old passport expiration date.
I don't know whether the expiration date of the visa affects the extension or not. My understanding is, visa only matters while entering the country. It shouldn't have anything to do with how long one can stay. That's why I think there's no rush to get the visa renewed. But I might be wrong...I don't know.

But one important thing I'm not sure is whether we're allowed use a different passport (than the one used for entering Canada) to apply for extension.
Hope someone else can answer this question for you.

Yes, my mom's situation is a unique one. We also renewed her PP in 2012 before applying for Super Visa, but we only get 5-year valid PP. So, she got visa up to her PP validity.

Actually, we don't have problem for her going back to Bangladesh, staying for few months and then re-applying with a new/renewed PP. But since I don't have any other immediate family member, she cannot do all these by herself. Hence I was hoping to renew the visa from within Canada. The other reason I want her to stay with me is that we applied for PGP this year. 2016-17 could be vital for it.
