My second question is related to my wife's National ID card. Do I need to include a photocopy and translation of my wife's National ID card? I read some people didn't translate it and some did. Not sure what is the best course of action.
We also just included a regular photocopy of the National ID card. No certification or translation.

Basically in our app there were only 3 documents we got translated... Certificate of Family Relations, Cert of Individual Identification, and the Police check. The Household Family Register was already in English so we just submitted it as-is.

Some bad news on my front. You may recall that a few weeks back Manila requested a new CBC from my wife as the one we submitted didn't search "lapsed records" (my mistake. I should have given my wife that search request form on CIC's website). Anyway, the new CBC disclosed an old DUI conviction my wife had back in 2008. She thought that her blood alcohol level was .068 (not a crime in Canada) but the police in Korea now confirm that it was .086 (definitely a crime in Canada).

So, I consulted an old friend who is an immigration lawyer in Vancouver. He tells me;

(a) Manila will almost certainly deny my wife's PR application for reasons of criminality,

(b) we will have to appeal that denial. Since her "criminality" consists of a single DUI with no prior or subsequent offences, that appeal will almost certainly be granted on humanitarian and compassionate grounds.

(c) She can apply for a Temporary Residence Permit so that she can remain in Canada while this all plays out. I filed that application yesterday.

I'll wait and see how this all works out, but it looks like this process is going to take a lot longer than I thought. :(
Sorry to hear about your struggles! Hope it gets resolved for you quickly, sooner rather than later.

Update for me at the start of this week: still nothing and not likely to change this week. Been trying to figure out when exactly our 14 month processing time is done. Initially we were thinking November but with the transfer of documents to Manila, waiting for the criminal record check, etc., we have no idea when our application began being processed at Manila VO.

Uncertainty sucks and I'm envious of the folks that know exactly what their timeline is.

I don't think anyone knows the exact wait time. We can just guesstimate by looking at the spreadsheet, etc.

I haven't seen the spreadsheet ... I'm a little slow on the uptake on that one. Where would I find it? (Or is that the estimated processing times table on the website?)

I don't think the spreadsheet would really apply to me anymore anyway lol

Thanks everyone with the quick responses.

I think I will go with just my current employer's letter and an option C form. Also, I will photocopy the ID card and include it in the application.

Bartjones, sorry to hear about your situation. I hope everything works out quickly.

After clicking my way through various address change links (which all lead to stating - contact your regional VO). I found a link on the SA or AOR DOC. I clicked on that link and it brought me to a online enquiry site. After submitting the address update I got an auto-reply confirming receipt but not confirmation the address was updated. From what I understand, an e-mail or letter should be sent to confirm the address change.

Bart? Is this what you did? Should I send a letter in too?

I'm pretty sure I used the same link to change my address. I got the same confirmation email you got. I never got a confirmation email confirming the actual change. The new address just showed up about a week later when I checked ECAS, so if I were you I would check in a week or so and see if they have updated it. Also, be sure to check that they updated the address for both you and your wife as well.

I went into ecas first. I could see my current address but no option to update it in ecas. I'll do that, check it again in a week or so.

We spent this week selling off most of our stuff. Gonna move to officetel tomorrow while we wait for PR. So, once the PR is ready we won't have to deal with selling or moving alot of stuff, etc. We just kept the essentials. It took us 1 week to trim down our stuff. Going from 34 pyng. apt to officetel.

So, thats one major prep. task done before moving to Canada...eventually.

A sudden rush of satisfaction came over me when I dumped about 100 old esl teaching books in the recycling outside! We decided to replace our furniture in Canada vs shipping our stuff over later. We will prob. get the small min. crate for some sentimental stuff.

We are facing that dilemma right now. To ship or not to ship.
