Korean Pay Stubs: do these have to be officially translated/notarized? Or, anything in Korean must be translated/notarized?

Certified True Copies: passports, birth certificates, marriage certificate, anything else? Or, anything photocopied must be a certified true copy?
Anything you give in Korean MUST be translated. If you are including the original document, then you only need the certified/notarized translation. If you are including a copy of the document, then you must include a certified true copy of the document, plus the usual certified/notarized translation.

If the document from Korea for applicant is already in english, it does NOT need to be certified true. This would include something like a photocopy of Korean passport, since it's already in english. So just a regular basic photocopy is fine.

Any copies of documents for the sponsor already in english (Canadian passport, birth certificate etc) do NOT need to be certified true, regular basic photocopy is fine.

From what I remember, all of the special Korean documents you need will be certified/notarized translation, and the original document (not a copy).

Perhaps the only thing you will need a certified true copy of is the wedding certificate if it's only in Korean, since you shouldn't send the original one in (since they may not return your documents).

Okay, good to know concerning the photocopies.

I am including pay information for last 12 months since the option c will not have that information (the previous 12 months).

I'll look this up again later, but what MUST be Certified True Copies?

thank a million bartjones!

You only need a certified true copy, if the copy is not in english and you're also including a translation. That's it.

Relationship Photos - I have the photos printed. Now wondering how to arrange them. How much info should I put on the back of each photo? Date/Location/1 line caption? A picture is worth a thousand words so I though just a small caption would suffice....? I had most of them date stamped by the printing service.
I did it that way. I numbered each photo and put a label on the back indicating the date and location it was taken as well as a very short description. I then referred to the photos by number in the application (particularly in the Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire, Questions 9 and 15). I figured just about anybody could follow along with that.

We arranged them in a MS Word document, 2 photos per page. Under each photo on the Word doc, we just typed in the basic info: date, people in the pic, place taken, what event it was, etc. Then just printed out the doc on regular colour printer.

In all we had 20 or so pics... on around 10 pages.

Again, the choice is yours, but the fact is, as a spousal applicant, there's no minimum income requirement and therefore no necessity to prove you've been making money the past 12 months, other than the letter from your employer. You only need to provide the information in Doc. Checklist Item 19 if you are in a class of applicants who need to meet the minimum necessary income requirement, which you don't because you're legally married and have no kids. Why complicate your application with 12 extra pages of superfluous information the VO doesn't need anyway?

My option C showed nothing as well (other than some small investment income I had in Canada for which I filed a non-resident return). My view was this; they asked for option C and a letter from my employer, so that's what I gave them. How can they complain?

I think that's probably wiser and you won't need to spend the extra money having them translated.

I guess the common-law applications are different but if you're legally married my view of the whole PR process was this. My wife and I have been married 8 years. It's a legit marriage. I included a bunch of our wedding pictures and pics of us together on trips all over the world. If we were trying to scam a PR visa out of CIC we sure spent a lot of time and money doing so. So I submitted the docs and information CIC required and ( other than the marriage certificate I wasn't sure about) I gave them nothing more. I figure that makes the VO's job a lot easier and makes our application a simple one to process.

I know others took a different view, wrote long covering letters, sent all kinds of extra info and went to great lengths to explain how they met, developed their relationship, etc. but I just can't see a busy VO taking much time to look through all of that. Those guys in Manila must be swamped, so I took the minimalist approach. Hopefully it works.

I was going to go to Seoul to have all my photocopies certified at some office there. After reading your post about photocopies (bartjones), I have since photocopied all of my english documents. Kudos to your for saving me; time, money, and a trip to Seoul!

From what I understand these are the Korean docs my wife has to get:

Chaejeok DeungBon (Old (deleted) Family Census Register) – translate & notarized
When we sent in our application, we didnt send in the Old deleted family census register. Everyone we asked in Seoul said it doesn't exist anymore. About a month into the application CIC asked us to submit this form instead: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5406E.PDF

Yeah, that form is one of the required forms. I also read somewhere about someone who didn't submit the old deleted korean documents and had their application delayed. I guess we will find out when we go to get the documents printed off...if it exists or not. We will ask for it and see what they say.
