I am thinking just saying one of the offices in Canada, tbh.

Also, how are you dealing with the "option C" issue from Canada Revenue Agency.? I think I will just not do it as I have not lived in Canada in over 10 years but am wondering how to deal with that one.
If you don't provide Option C you must include a letter of employment from your employer covering the last 12 months: Job Title/Salary/Work Hours/Period of Employment.

I recently had aour photos printed at costco. The online photo service has an option to have the photos imprinted with the date the photo was taken. Helps with arranging the photos year by year. Have you had anything translations/notarizing done yet? That's the stage we are at now. Seems best to go to Jongno and find a certfied service there to handle it.

We don't live in Seoul, but are going to get our documents notorized in a week or two, I think I am behind you in filling out the application by a few weeks. We will be looking for someone to do the notorization where we live anyhow. Wonder how much that will cost? Thanks for the tip about Costco, will definetly look into that.

The Option C:

Great, my academy owner just changed over 6 months ago, but I have been working at that school (part time) for about 4 years now. However, we do own a study room, so I guess we can use that as well.

We just made a rough copy of the forms then moved on to collecting documents. Will go back after to fill up the forms as the last step. The actual income is not important but they want to have something on paper showing the previous 12 months (without Option C) up to submitting the application...this is what I understand.

Leaving the final attempt at the forms for last since I am still revising the rough copy as I clarify things like from this site.

I am in the process of doing the rough forms now, this site has been very helpful. Thanks for your advice about option C btw. Guess it might be time to tell my boss I will be moving to Canada at the end of the year. ;)

I stand to be corrected but I don't think you can substitute a letter from your current employer for the Option C printout. According to the Document Checklist, you need to submit both (Items 17 and 18).

You have to request it from Canada Revenue. Call their offices at 1 800 959 8281. Tell them you need an Option C Printout. They will ask you for your name, SIN, etc. and mail it to you. It takes a few weeks to arrive.

I'm almost certain that you cannot skip this document without an explanation as it will show if you have a history of getting social assistance in Canada, something which CIC will most certainly want to know before they grant your application.

You can't do that. If you are applying from Korea for a Korean citizen, you only have 1 option to put - Manila. This is not really a choice for you. To apply to a Canadian office, you need to do an inland application and both be in Canada.

If you simply put a wrong office in the "select a visa office" section, 1 of 2 things will happen. 1. CIC-M will notice the error and change it to the correct Manila office and send the app there as normal, or 2. CIC-M will mistakenly forward your application to the Canadian office, where it may take several months to notice the mistake and have them forward it to Manila, causing long delay in your processing time.

Without option C you can provide an employment letter and explanation letter. I will locate where I read that and post.

Indeed. An Option-C is Not required. My wife sponsored me even though she has never worked in Canada (she moved to the UK after graduation and lived there for 8 years until now!). CIC can still easily tell if benefits or social assistance have been taken in the applicants name with the other information tendered. In our case, we provided out UK P60's which are the breakdowns of our income tax paid there, as well as letters from our employer in the UK, some pay stubs, and my wife's job offer letter back home in Canada.

How strict they are with the financials depends on whether there are dependents involved in the case. If there are, then they require more proof that you are meeting certain income requirements, rather than a simple assessment of risk on whether a sponsor can support someone properly should it be required.

I have read various posts concerning option C. Yes, it is best to include it. Some have stated they had delays due to not including it. Yet some state they included an employment letter, pay stubs for past 12 months, proof of taxes in current country and had no problem....

You may be correct. If the document is optional I wonder why it's included in the checklist and why IMM5481 specifically instructs sponsors to "Make sure you include with your application the original Option C printout you obtain from CRA...". This was the last document I needed to complete my application and I sat around for 2 weeks waiting for it to arrive because I thought, based on the above, that it was mandatory. ::)

To clarify; it is not listed as optional. However, letters of employment and other pay information should be provided in lieu of option c on a case by case basis. It would be a good idea to include an explanation re why no option c. That is what I have read in other threads.

Again, you may be right. My take on it was that if the application listed it as a required document, I provided it. That seemed like a better idea than rolling the dice that they wouldn't require it in my particular case. Since it was an easy enough document to get my hands on (one 2 minute phone call) I figured why gamble?

What is the purpose of non-residents, paying Korean taxes, to obtain option C? It's more than 2 minutes to get :) Not everyone has someone in Canada to get documents for them.
