Sponsoring my Brother

Hi,

Hoping someone knows the answer to this. I am a permanent resident of Canada and married to a Canadian. My Brother, who is 27 and lives in Scotland, wants to move here to work, maybe for 6 months or so, with a view to staying permanently. I noticed on the CIC website that I can sponsor a brother/sister as long as I have no living parents. Our Mother is deceased and I never knew my Father, who is a different Father of my 3 Brothers.

Am I able to sponsor him? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

R

Thanks for replying, but the CIC website states:

'You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the following conditions:

you do not have a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, or one of the following living relatives you could sponsor instead:
son or daughter,
parent,
grandparent,
brother or sister,
uncle, aunt,
nephew or niece.
you do not have any of the above-named relatives who is a:
Canadian citizen,
permanent resident, or
registered Indian under the Indian Act.'

So I am a little confused?

You must meet ALL of the conditions. You have a Canadian spouse and therefore do not qualify.

What canuck_in_uk said. The fact you have a wife immediately disqualifies you from sponsoring your brother.

Your brother should look into the working holiday visa / IEC program.
