Thanks for the well wishes. The interview is in a couple of hours. We don't expect to hear much today. Likely they will ask a whole lot of the saaaaaaaaaaame questions and give us the old "we'll be in touch" business. Been there. Done that. Lol!

But hopefully in few days or next couples of weeks we'll get the request for medicals, police clearances and the background form.

I really hope they don't drag this out. He's only been gone a 2 days and I miss him already. Plus I'm in Taiwan alone with a 2 year old. Blech.

Fingers crossed.

Lynn

Thanks! I am sure it will. I know from our CAIPS notes that our relationship has been deemed genuine. And I am sure there is nothing in the background checks that would make him inadmissible, so I think (hope) it's just a matter of time.

Back to zen.

Thanks for sending me the link! I read the whole thing and I don't see why they were refused!

Its all about non authentic relationship...Its always about that ....i dont know why....Habibti any news on your side about your hubby's interview...how did he think it went...my hubby after the interview was crying so we knew it didnt go well....

Hi vjamal. You'll forgive my perusing of your case, I hope, but as someone with a Moroccan husband who might also be considered an "odd match" ( ::) ) for her, I feel the need to weigh in. First of all, I cannot believe the freaking level of intimate detail in these things (*cough* paragraph 7 *cough). Perhaps I'm not looking at these judgment documents in an unbiased, lawyerly fashion, but what business does the Canadian government have knowing when one bedded one's life partner? I did the deed upon my first trip to see my husband too, so what? And again with the "too casual" wedding celebrations. Lord, have mercy. If I needed someone judging how I went about celebrating my love for my man in wedding format, I would have called my mom. Seriously, where does it end with these people? Anyway, my heart goes out to you and your little one. I hope you are reunited with your husband soon.

His interview went very well. He told me the officer seemed pleased and convinced about his answers. It has been exactly 2 weeks and one day since the interview. No news so far...

I know that they judged the relationship non-authentic. I understood that part. But how can they say that? Are they in their hearts and minds??? What are the logical reasons to say that? This is the part I could not understand. And I totally agree with the comments left by ddobro.

Thanks, habibti. I looked at the Beaudoin v. Canada one too, and let me tell you, the "doubts" in that were even more ridiculous.

But one thing struck me the most. This particular woman's husband "flouted all of his country's traditions and customs" to be able to live with her in Morocco (tsk, tsk). Now mind you, this went into part of CIC's calculus that the relationship must not have been genuine, that it "raises serious doubts about his intentions." in their words. Fine, CIC, fine. He might have been so desperate to get to Canada that he was ready to accept a big scandal in the village. But if they try to stop being such amateur cultural anthropologists, then maybe - just MAYBE - they could entertain the thought that he simply loved her enough that he didn't give a rat's behind what people in his village thought. But the sad thing is that CIC will never think that way. To them, actions are always governed by rationality. Love, however, is not.
