Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone had already sponsored a sister or brother over 18 years old?

My situation is a follow, I am married to a born canadian citizen and do not have anyone I can sponsor in canada.
can I sponsor my 25 years old sister under those circumstances ?

CIC states :
(**Option 2 – Other relative

You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the following conditions:

you do not have a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, or one of the following living relatives you could sponsor instead:
son or daughter.......etc..... ***)

You cannot sponsor your sister. You do not meet the requirements of the "other relative" rule since you have a spouse.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan have PNP for which siblings are available. You'll have to look up requirements though.

One of them is you (sponsor) must've lived there for at least a year.
