I don't think any of us can answer your question for certain. It will depend on what evidence you can submit to CIC to prove that your parents are no longer in a relationship and haven't been for some time. It's possible you may be successful - or CIC may demand evidence that a divorce has been filed to formalize the separation. It's too late to apply to sponsor your parents this year. If you want to sponsor one of your parents next year, I would recommend that they go ahead and file for divorce or somehow legalize the separation to ensure you have no issues with the sponsorship process. Otherwise CIC may believe it's just a "separation of convenience" (i.e. a separation that has been faked to facilitate the immigration of one parent to Canada). Hope this helps.Jacaranda said:anyone, appreciate any insight in this....
wat if the parents are separated and not legally divorced, and hence only one parent is interested in immigrating....
- do we need a formal separation notice (like a affidavit)
- and in that situation how does the sponsorship work (in terms of the size of the family??)
thanks
