Hello,

My spouse has an outstanding charge for theft under $5000. He was caught shoplifting an item (worth 20$) 3 years ago. In the upcoming weeks, he will seek to have the charges dropped by contacting Legal Aid for assistance. I have a few questions:
  • At this point, is he ineligible to sponsor?
  • Should he address the charges during application processing, is this going to suspend the processing of the application?
Thanks.

He can still sponsor. This won't hold him back from qualifying.
