Hi,

When sending application to CIC, do you send in the Sponsor forms as well as the applicant's (person being sponsored) forms all at once?

How long did it take for most of you to gather documents and fill out the forms?

Do you suggest to send in hand written forms or did you fill it online then printed the pdf forms? Any idea if printed is preferred over hand written?
I also read somewhere on this forum that if you fill the forms online it gets locked after you save it and you cannot edit it after? Is that true? Or that only happens once you "validate" the forms?

Thanks so much! ;D

You need to follow the checklist provided.
It is preferable to fill in the forms on-line, this way you can correct possible mistakes and validate forms as required.
You also can always save the form and re-open it later.

Hi, you're correct, you need to send both applications together (sponsorship and permanent residence). Took us about 2 months to gather all the documents and fill out the forms (with medical examination and police certificate).

It's better to fill online, but some of the forms do get locked and you can't edit them after, so pick a moment when you really have time to go them through. We filled few forms like 3 times before we sent them!

You send in everything at once.

I suggest you take a look at this thread on how to organize it: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-i-organized-our-applcation-and-a-summary-of-all-helpful-tips-i-have-learned-t92449.0.html

In my own experience it took me about 3 or 4 months to get everything together. We began filling out forms in August but stopped, got married in October and sent out the package at the end of January. At that point we weren't even 100% complete and we sent it in with two missing documents which is not advised. We got lucky and can send them in later but I wouldn't suggest doing that. Have everything ready and done and sent it in all together.

Fill out the forms online and then print them. Then read over them 3 times to make sure you haven't missed anything. When we filled them out they didn't get locked and we could edit them after. Maybe it locks with certain programs, I'm not sure.

Thanks so much for all your help. So many forms and some are a bit confusing. My dependants are Canadian citizens so i get confused if i should add them in some forms or not...
