Hi All,

I'm currently filling an inland application, her 6 month stay expires Feb 8th, we planned to apply before the date, but we have had some Delays with her Police Clearance.

Ofcourse I dont want her status to expire,

-She has a multi Entry VISA, so tecnically we can go to the US (drive to the border), and come back, she would get another 6 months right?, would this be a problem? can I go with her?

-Apply for an extention? I'm unfamilliar with this process, but I read you can do that.

-Submit Application on time (if we submit it with an OWP, and they AOR before Feb 8th, she gets implied status. We're just not sure if we will do this in time.

Currently my wife is desperate, she does not want to leave
(go to US and come back), shes scared that they wont let her in for some reason.

Thanks for your input, your help is much appreciated.

where is your wife from? it may actually be better for her to apply OUTLAND through her home country instead, as most visa offices have significantly lower processing times than inland right now. Also, the processing times listed online are misleading, and most applicants are approved much quicker than posted on the CIC site. to know what current applicants are experiencing from her home country, it's best to find a thread here specific to that visa office before making a decision. Please note she can be IN Canada as a visitor while her outland application is being processed, and she will have no travel restrictions. it is NOT required for her to go back home in order to process an outland application.

If she does decide to continue with the inland application, she will want to submit it, along with an OWP application before her visa expires, that way she can have "implied" status until they process her application. she will be restricted in her travels though, because once she leaves, her implied status goes away.

She can also apply to extend her stay as a visitor by applying online on the CIC website. it costs $100, and pr applicants are rarely denied. people generally ask for 12, 16 and 24 months and are easily approved. it's recommended to apply to extend your stay at least 30 days prior to the visa expiring, though it's only necessary for CIC to get the application before the visa expires.

She's from Venezuela, VISA office is mexico, it is hard to tell how long Outland takes from Venezuelan applicatns through the Mexican office.

Her VISA expries in march 2017, but her 6 months stay as a visitor expires in Feb 8th, should I apply for extension? or does she need to go to the Border?

Also do you have the link to the Visa Extention?

Thanks.

again if she sends in the owp permit with her inland application before her urrent visit expires in february, she does not need to extend her stay.

if she does NOT send in the application before her current stay expires on Feb 8, then she does need to extend her stay. i don't have the link, though i'm sure it can be found by googling or the search box on the cic website.

She does NOT need to go to the US to restart her visa. all she has to do is one of the above, and she can stay in canada.

No problem :) I recommend you to read all of it carefully, and then ask if you have any questions. It is a pretty easy application, and I still didn't see anyone complaining that they were refused.

Already went through it, as if I was her, at fist it kept saying I was legible to be sponsored.

I guess in the questionair you have to select that I inted to Visit canada, and then say I need to stay for more than 6 months.

also one the questions asks if the applicant (her) will be acompaining any family member to canada, I answered no since her spause (me) is already here. as a Canadian Citizen.

Can you confirm if her implied status starts once the application is submitted or once they receive it (AOR)? (it could take a few weeks).

Yes, you answered all the questions the way you were supposed to. You just need to decide will you apply on paper and send it in by mail, or apply online.

Processing times are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

I myself applied online, but you will make the choice that suites you best!

I am really not sure, since I applied online, and online I think it is as soon as you apply. But as I see, you have almost 2 months until her stay expires, so you have time. To prepare all the docs and the one form, it shouldn't take you more than a week...

Thanks Guys, This forum is very helpful, ;D
