Would it be possible to get SOWP without ask for a medical? Friend of mine, who submitted SOWP from outside of Canada without upfront medical, and he got visa approval & PPR without any further ask for medical.

He applied on May 30, 2024 and received approval on July 15, 2024.

Not Possible. Error if found, it can end up in refusal of visa.

Then what could be the option here? Should he contact IRCC by himself?

If you are talking about work permit then he should, else on visitor visa he need not medical examination if stay is less than 6 months.

I applied for SOWP from India on 6th March 2024 and my biometric was done on 12th March, I have still not got and request for medical and it has been 19 weeks.

Biometrics Updated: 29 February 2024
(Upfront medical)

Since then, I have not received ANY update. It has been almost 5 months.

Application Status Tracker says:
Biometrics - Completed
Background Verification - In Progress (since 1st March itself..)
Medical exam - not started
Eligibility - not started

Application number series starts with "W3101.."
Spouse is pursuing PhD in Canada, and thus is on Study permit.

Anyone else with similar timeline or file series?

My question is about the normal timeline for a complete processing of a SWOP application, and how long it would supposedly take to get the decision?
