SOWP + Family Class in Canada status question

Hi all, applied for Family Class in Canada Spousal Sponsorship and the plan is to stay in Canada. Does applying for SOWP while in an Outland with Family Class grant maintained status? I am on visitor status from the United States. Plan is to stay here with my spouse, even if it is just implied status.

Of course I am aware nothing is guaranteed but the relationship has more evidence then requested and I am not worried about the final decision, so we just wanna plan. Alternative is to pull the app and change to inland as I don't really think I'll be leaving if I'm allowed to stay.

Yes, you keep your status until the decision is made.

no, not as visitor

SOWP application gives you maintained status when you’re holding another work permit

So even when I have a sponsorship application in process and a Spousal Open work visa application in process as a visitor, I need a visitor extension to stay?

You only have implied status once you have received AOR from the sponsorship application and then qualify and apply for SOWP.
