I think they used the photo you sent in june for something else. Just take another set of 2 photo and send it with the passport with vfs thailand.
My wife went to a photo shop just outside VFS office in Bangkok, took 10 min

We sent 5 photos of each applicant. Its not that easy of a re photo take,as my wife is far from any amenities,and the daughter is 200 km from her home town.So i am trying to confirm if the 5 photos we took in june,are the ones VFS needs.

Cannot tell. It depend how your case is straighforward or not. Some case take years but mostly if you have no red flag you can expect 8-10 months. But some get it in 5 months. For me, it took 7 1/2 months.

It takes SVO roughly a month on average.

But you sent your passport to Ottawa. Completely different VO and time line for passport return. You would be better off asking people who have also sent their passports to Ottawa.

For me it took 5 weeks to get passport back with COPR. But if you sent to Ottawa VO it's a different story, maybe difficult to know since Ottawa mostly deal with visa-exempt country.

2 weeks on average if you wish to do visa stamping through CPC-Ottawa but you must be a resident in Canada to do this.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping it's 2 3 weeks. I sent mine to ottawa as i have been in Canada for over 3 months...
