It's probably based on associations, travel history, etc and not just the country. Intelligence agencies have parameters and red flags which will automatically pull your application for review. For example, if you have traveled to Egypt or Palestine or any war torn countries, conflict zones, etc.

Hello guys,I just got to know about this forum and I am also a September 2020 ,my application was received on 21 September 2020 got my AOR online or when I called the CIC .I have not got any test invitation yet it’s been 9 months since I filed my application.I am from Edmonton.What should I do?I just used the web form today and asked them about why my file is being processed so slow?Is there anything I can do ?Please help
There is at least one (family) September Mississauga applicant and several others from the GTA who received test invites. Look at the September Spreadsheet!
Many of the September applicants are in the same situation. You are not alone. You should keep in mind that several 2019 applicants are still waiting for their test too.
What the status of BG checks on the New Citizenship status Dashboard ?
There is nothing we can do at this point but wait. If you want, you can order GCMS notes to see where your application is and get some more details about the processing of your application that you wouldn't otherwise be able to get.

I don't think the December 2016 thread will be active so you can post here - that's okay.
I don't have access and I am not even sure if there is a 2016 spreadsheet.
What happened to your application? Were you invited for an interview after you've taken the test? Have you tried contacting IRCC or ordering GCMS notes to see why your application is in process for a mind numbing 4.5 years? Given the status of your BG checks, it is likely that your application is, unfortunately, stuck in both criminality AND security. Criminality checks (even with two FP requests) don't take this long. If your application is stuck in security, then these kinds of horrendous delays are possible.
If you haven't done already, you should order GCMS notes / send out ATIP requests from/to IRCC, CBSA, RCMP and CSIS. Notes from IRCC is for the notes about your application progress in general. CBSA can probably add more information to the GCMS notes (some details about security). RCMP will show the status of criminality checks. CSIS will give you the status of the security checks. Apply notes from IRCC first to see where you stand. Based on those notes, you can later decide who else you can apply notes from.

Quick Update - As I mentioned in earlier posts. I passed the test on 4th June and have been waiting for CT completion to reflect on eCAS (my wife's eCAS shows CT completed, but not mine). Today, I received a request letter in an email from some Officer SBR (IRCC) asking me to email back the color scanned copy of all pages of my passport (in pdf format). I was asked to send it within 14 days. But of'course I couldn't give them any reason to delay my app, so I sent it within 15minutes. Let us see what happens next. Will keep you posted.

Thanks. This is the new workflow. They request for scanned copies of all pages of the passport without actually scheduling an interview over MS teams.
