I think the decision made was too quick to be a positive one after they received the declaration to exclude his kids from medical.
Requested on Dec 8th
I emailed a copy on Jan 4th and the mailed copy they received on Jan 9th
On January 12th I noticed his medical changed to pass and background started.
Janauary 15th, for sure, as I checked in the morning no change and last night now states decision made

CIC hasn't changed to back up ECAS yet and all ECAS says is three lines.
Received file
Started processing
Medical received - which popped up with decision made

I don't know if our letter worked or not. They didn't ask for anymore info so not sure if they just flat out denied us or not. This is worse than waiting for SA. Maybe I will post on the main board to see if anyone else has gone through this

Hello,

Just so I am correct - you ARE sponsoring your partner AND his kids. Right?
And the kids DID NOT get medicals done?

Just trying to help you. Why were the kids excluded from having medicals done?

Be optimistic. Tons of positive DMs from Ottawa right now!

DECISION MADE TODAY!!!! I'm trying not to get too excited just in case, but I'd expect them to request an interview if the news is bad, right...? ???

No they are staying with their moms who have full custody. The boys 18 and 16 are estranged from him and his other ex won't permit is she too has full custody of the third. Texas has weird custody as its conservatorship and right of residency, instead of custody. They were declared as non accompanying, we received a request for their medical, we did the declaration stating that he is fully aware that he can't sponsor them ever, as per an immigration lawyer I had a teleconference with. Since they have received that declaration his medical changed to passed and background n progress and ECAS decision made. I have been scouring the internet for a glimmer of hope without much luck :(

How long do you think before I will know?

All the positive news on this thread is so uplifting, let love conquer all.

To all those still waiting, you are in my thoughts, it's tough but keep your chins up, joy is just around the corner for you

So my wife and I got Decision Made on Friday and have our fingers crossed for good news.

I had a question about the passport requests though. I know that different offices = different times for that kinda stuff but since our application was processed in Ottawa, but she lives in LA but is a Filipino citizen. I am just curious which visa office a passport would need to get sent to in that case?

Maybe I am just overthinking this and it would specify in the letter its self?

Thanks!

Has anyone received a letter or email in regards to decision made in ECAS? Just trying to see how long it took to be notified and how. They have both our email addresses but seem to enjoy sending us snail mail instead.

I am assuming my husband will receive it or will it pop up as a message in CIC?

Also does anyone who has received decision made in ECAS have a line that states they sent a letter?

Mine ends at Medical Received.

Thanks!

Sorry to be a pain, I am just really worried about ours and am having a hard time waiting and not getting my hopes up. This whole process has been like a very bad roller coaster ride. ???

My spouse and I's situation is the same. We got DM last friday (not that it is a terribly long time ago) but I keep reading messages of people getting theirs with in 2-3 days or so. It just kinda makes me curious what the processes is once decision is made??

The last thing ours was updated with is also medical received. Does it always update you with "We sent you correspondence on MONTH/DAY" when an email has been sent?

I have been reading through old forum messages and some do say they sent correspondence on a certain day and some don't. So I wasn't sure so thought I would ask how others in here looked is all.

Hey, you should check this post out from the August thread, and perhaps read a little further down there, as some US outland apps from July that were processed in Ottawa required re-submission of passport photos to get COPR:

Congrats everyone! Really excited for everyone and for those without updates yet don't fret your time is almost here I can feel it!

Also for other US Citizens who just got DM in ECAS from Ottawa, I did some more sleuthing and it seems that Ottawa is pretty good about mailing out COPR right away after a DM if you are a US Citizen.

One post back in February:

generally, for visa exempt applicants from the us, ottawa does not send anything by email. the applicant will receive the COPR letter in regular mail and nothing else regarding the decision. generally it can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks, depending on where it's being mailed to from ottawa. it arrives in regular mail in a brown envelope. generally, for us citizens being processing in ottawa, DM means either the COPR was mailed that day or the day after.

This was not the only post on the matter I found (dozens of posts suggest the same). I have not seen any Ottawa Outland US Citizen posting that theirs took longer than this and almost always was mailed out immediately after DM. So my hope just got a bit brighter!

We have a DM from Ottawa since January 15th and no email. None of the DMs from Ottawa in January on the August thread have received emails either.

Thanks for attaching that. I wasn't sure how we would be notified.

Within the last hour, my background check went to In Progress! Holy hannah!

Finally my background check has started! :D How long did it take everyone else to get a DM after their background check?
