Here is mine! We met while playing an online game over 2 years ago. We were both miserably married to other people at the time but we weren't actually looking for anyone. We became really good friends just clicked and I couldn't believe how true love really felt. I finally put on my big girl pants and decided my boys were old enough and filed for divorce. It was 5years overdue. We married in April and will live apart until this process is complete. We do get short visits in every 3-4 months but it is never enough. If we could find a way for him to move his stuff and live with me while we wait, he would be here. Christmas in Texas will be our next visit.

every 3-4 months, oy.....that's rough

i was so lucky that he was looking for new work when we met and so he chose a border town 1/2 hour from the US-Canada border to settle in, and 1.5hrs away from me -- he has crossed that border literally hundreds of times to visit me, hallelujah for nexus

Here's how we met;

In 2010, I got a vision to start an ngo/charity. And with the help of a friend, things started off. It got to a point where I needed a financial adviser n a treasurer. My friend suggested that he had a friend who was doing his masters in finance and had the knowledge about these things who could help. He introduced his friend to me. I interviewed him n tried to get to know him to see if he was the right fit for the job. We all worked so well. But since the charity was back home, I was coordinating everything from here and directing my friend and my new treasurer back home. (To cut it short) , my friend duped me n run off with the money in the account for the charity. I kept in contact with the treasurer who became a boyfriend later. With 4 trips back home to see him n getting married last year, the treasurer became a husband and a father to our four month old son....

My application wasn't many pages. Only about 25 pages of proof all around, and then the required paperwork. I suspect application size doesn't matter. Instead the most important thing is probably what officer you get!

Oh man, I sent a photobook because we got together in 2003 and married in 2012 and I honestly was intimidated because they needed all the proof and we had to put everything together... Hopefully that was ok!!! :o

Exciting news, everyone! Today on MyCIC, my background check changed to "In Progress"! I expect I'll still have a couple weeks or a month wait due to having lived in Japan but hopefully I'm getting close to the end!

Good luck to all of you too!

Oh wow so lucky! Congratulations!!!

Interesting to read all these stories ;D

Our story dates back to 2003, college sweethearts and my first boyfriend. ;)

We dated for a few years and it wasn't really super serious yet because we were still young. In 2008, I had to move with my family to Canada and we've been long distance ever since. We pretty much had to decide right away if this was worth the whole distance and at first we broke up.. but 3 months later, we got back together (still long distance) and we had to wait a year before I could visit again.

We'd see each other maybe once every year or so.. 2009 - 3-month visit and the proposal, 2011 - 1-year visit for wedding plans, 2012 - wedding, 2014 - 6-months visit, 2015 - 1 month visit.. I'll be visiting him again for 2 weeks this Christmas, our shortest visit ever but it's really hard being away for this many years. He was denied a tourist visa in 2014. :(

Going on 13 years this December. 4 years married, 8 years apart.

I can't even imagine being apart for so long. I hope you'll get PPR soon! In only a short while you can be together forever.

I am loving all the stories guys! Thank you so much for sharing and keep them coming! I feel so much for the couples who have to live apart for so long, I honestly don't know how you do it, hats off to you!!

On a side note, we live very close to an active volcano here in Guatemala and it's been going on for days! Erupting every few hours, incredible!

Oh and Mexico City VO is being super slow. Our app hasn't changed to In Process yet on ECAS.. Boo!!
