That's great to hear! I'm glad your case is moving along. :D

I don't think Ottawa usually sends an AOR2. I certainly didn't receive one. If you have a line saying your case began processing on Oct. 25th, then you can assume that's your AOR2. I think that's what most of the people here are doing. (By the way, it looks like our applications started processing at the same time.)

Thanks for the info. Some Ottawa VO folks had marked AOR2 on the spreadsheet so I wanted to be sure. Our timelines are very similar and we could be in the same batch. Great to meet you on here and have some company as we move along.

What classifies as the AOR 2? (Sounds like a stupid question but I am confused) ???

SA was approved on 13 October 2016
I received an email from CIC on 7 October 2016 with my case number and to link account up
They started to process my application on 20 October
Medicals received

Hey, It is not a stupid question. AOR2 is acknowledgment of Receipt from your Visa office that they received your application and started working on it. Which is after SA.

Not every visa office send AOR2. sounds like You got AOR2 ;)

Thanks so I got my AOR2 on the 7th October even though they didn't start to process my application until the 20th? I'm over thinking about it but this doesn't make sense because people usually get the acknowledgement after SA.

No, October 7th was your AOR1, SA on October 13th.

If ECAS says they started processing your file on October 20th (on PA side obviously) then that would technically be your AOR2. You might get an official AOR2 email further down the road, but at least you know that your file is being looked at right now. I hope this makes sense...

Hello, I am a October 2016 applicant. I have had AOR and SA and now my ECAS changed to 'In Progress'.

Can you tell me what I have to do now?!

Is it just a waiting game, they said I was missing some documents but I don't know what? Will they request these electronically? I think it may be the Right of Permanent Residence Fee as I didn't pay this at the time of submitting.

TIA! :D

How do you know you are missing documents? Did they email you? They would've told you which documents are missing. Your file won't really move forward until you send in those missing documents...
Other than that there is nothing else for you to do.. just wait!

They emailed me saying it was missing something but continued to process, I have just heard from them they are missing my birth certificate and the IMM5562 form. My birth certificate was enclosed so not sure what they are on about so I'll send it again!

When did everyone pay the Permanent Residence Fee? I only paid the $550 Application Fee.

When should I expect to pay the $490?

We paid it up front.. If I were you I'd send it sooner rather than later.. that way you will avoid having to wait for them to ask for it. Will save you some time in the end.

When it says 'In Process' they're carrying out the review to see if someone's relationship is legitimate but are they also carrying out security checks at the same time? because mine is still stuck as review in progress for 'Eligibility' and 'a background check is needed' is still as 'Not started'.

How would they contact me once they make that decision, through the account, email or post? And has anyone had a decision made on their application yet? Seems to be taking an awfully long time.

It's only been 2 months... You know that depending on your visa office you could be looking at a 10 month wait or more? Our office is Mexico City and I am not expecting a Decision Made until at least July. If your office is Ottawa maybe February or March..?

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe most people's "Eligibility" continues to say "in progress" until they get DM. I think eligibility probably covers more than just whether the relationship is genuine or not, since that's not the only thing they look at to determine eligibility anyhow. But either way, it's not odd for it to stay as "review in progress" for a long time, even after the background check changes to "in progress" too.

Once there's a change to MyCIC or a decision about your application, you will receive an email unless you did not provide an email to them (in the case of decision made).

Like others said, it will stay In Process until Decision Made. And Decision Made could be months upon months. Background Check is the last thing to be In Process before Decision Made. What is your VO? You're in it for a minimum of 4-5 months anyways, and probably more depending on your VO. You can check out average processing times on your VO specific forum. That will give you a better time frame. For our VO, people are getting approved between 8-10 months. The wait sucks, but we're all in this together. Patience is key.

The VO is Ottawa so there is a bit of a wait yet. Okay that makes more sense :)
