Hi, did your husband managed to call? The site is updated now, working on 2nd september applications.

Yes. they didn't want to entertain us once again. they said to call back and wait for the website to update.

No, I have money saved and it will be sufficient for handling things for quite awhile, at least. I absolutely won't be going on welfare, nor will I need to. I didn't work at this job long enough to claim EI, either, most likely, haha.

I know if your status changes in some way (you get married when you were common-law, you have a baby, your address changes, etc.) you're supposed to alert the CIC, but do I need to do anything like that in this instance?

EDIT: This is what I found.

I... guess that means I don't have to tell them? That feels kind of dishonest or something. I don't want to be omitting necessary information or anything, but...

Hey Prelude,

It seems that you have to let know CIC for any change in your employment status, it's stated here.

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

But I suppose you may have to receive your AOR so you can give them your file number and UCI.

Hope everything works for you.

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. The site was updated around 4pm canadian time. I kept on checking. Am expecting my AOR next week. Hoping its not wishful thinking.
Hang in there.

HELLO! :D

My husband called them for the 2nd time and Finally got a friendly agent who answered. The agent said to him that our Application was "Received and Approved on October 30, 2015" Though the agent didn't mention anything yet about transferring the file. He also said that maybe we didn't indicate our email on our app and to wait for the letter via post mail. My husband told the agent we were sure we put our email on the forms. Nevertheless Iam so relieved our app is safe and moving. Thank you everyone! God Bless Us All!

Thanks a bunch. I thought it seemed a little strange that I wasn't seeing anything about that, especially since depending on the situation you're in, loss/change of employment could be pretty significant for your case. We're expecting AoR in the next week or so, as the app arrived at the CIC on September 17th. As soon as I've got that, I'll update my info with them.

Since our case is pretty cut and dry (no children or dependents, no past marriages, nothing complicated), I'm pretty sure the work thing shouldn't negatively impact our case. I've heard on this forum before that you can't be rejected purely on the basis of income in a situation like ours, so that's helpful.

I'm so happy to hear this! I was worried for you as well, I could tell how anxious you were getting. Great to hear it's been received. I'm hoping for mine soon, they received mine September 23☺️ All the best!

Thank you Stephcy! :) Good luck to all of us!

I know the 17 months listed on CIC website for Manila means 80% of cases are done in less than 17 months. My wife just told me that a work friend got her visa after it had been at Canadian embassy in Manila for only one month. Could it actually go that fast? It would be a great Christmas present to have visa for my wife before the end of the year. 8)

Thank you for the non stop positive advice's you guys gave me. I know i sounded like a record machine going on and on about my Application. My husband also said that the agent told him the letter was sent November 2. Really odd cause im 100% sure we put our email there. ;D but still im so so so happy to get an update. finally!

We got AoR1 today! Our application was received September 17th, like Canada Post said, haha.

I'll update the spreadsheet. Now that we've got a UCI number, I guess it's also time to tell the CIC about how I got laid off two days ago. I know I've been told otherwise in the past, but I'm still worried that this will cause a problem. :/

EDIT: When I send them the situation update, I was going to include a scan of my ROE (which states that I was laid off), but what else should I send? I'd like to provide whatever people usually give when they send in the app while unemployed (in place of an employment letter). I was going to write an explanation of how we're intending to get by, plus provide evidence from my bank of investments and savings.

Do you think that's sufficient, or should I include anything else? I just want to give as much info as I can so that nothing goes wrong...

That is wonderful news, am so happy for you :). No need to worry now, just wait patiently. After everything is approved, which province will you be going to?
