I have a question about ECAS.

I am the applicant.

I received sponsor approval last Friday (October 31st 2014). On Monday November 3rd I was able to access ECAS using my UCI number and using my wife's. My wife's says Decision Made for the sponsorship and Application Received for Permanent Residence. Mine says Application Received for Permanent Residence.

However I checked today and I am unable to log in with my wife's details. I have not forgotten her date of birth, country of birth etc so I am unsure why this is happening.

I can still log in as usual but wondering if this means anything?

You have 2 UCI #'s?

The sponsor gets a UCI and the applicant gets a UCI.

I have one from when I was on IEC program.

My wife has one from when she sat her citizenship test (Naturalized Canadian). They both worked as of yesterday but not today.

Oh - that I don't know hun sorry!.. We only have one UCI and one Application #. If I use UCI - I have to enter my husband's info and I see sponsor and PR app info. If I enter the App # I have to enter my info and I only see the PR app info.

"This confirms that your application for Permanent Residence under the Spouse or common-law partner in Canada class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2014/10/14.

@freshman: Based on the part highlighted above, I think you're right, your application is being processed as Inland for some reason
@lleahdoll: I looked again at the AOR text you pasted earlier, and it also has the "in Canada" bit, which again I think means inland.

So both of you may want to contact CIC and somehow resolve this error. As far as I can tell from everything I'm reading, Outland applicants are not getting AORs at all, only SAs.

That is odd.

In our case, when we were filling in the forms, in sponsor form IMM1344, section Sponsor Personal Details, question 7 read:
If you are a permanent resident or a naturalized Canadian citizen, please provide the following information
Date on which you obtained this status and UCI/Client ID

My wife's citizenship certificate contained her UCI so we entered that for the above question.

In fact, the attachment name of the sponsor approval letter was in this format: UCI_YYYY-MM-DD.pdf so I am wondering what was the format of your attachment?

Yes, I can log in with:

  • My UCI and my details
  • File number and my details

However as of yesterday I was able to log in with my wife's UCI and her details. I know I am not missing anything as my wife's application is Decision Made but seems odd it is no longer allowing me to check.

My husband is a born Canadian Citizen we never had a UCI until now. That is probably why :) ... the UCI we have is his I am assuming and maybe I will get one when I get my PR.

Yes, that's why I find it odd that I got AOR when a lot of outland applicants didn't. I hope it's not extremely difficult to get that straightened out. I knew the application process could be bumpy but I didn't see this coming.

Thanks for your reply!

Anyone of Sept 22, 2014 received SA or AOR?

Great. Once when we called last week the guy mistakenly said our app was inland but we told him, no we applied outland and he said everything was all good. How could they screw that up with the bar codes from the application?! The forms are different for inland and outland...

Well, that's scary! Hopefully they can get it sorted out quickly for you. Now I'm not only anxious to get SA, but I have to worry about whether or not it gets processed correctly.

Aren't some forms the same for inland and outland? (By the way, I am October outland applicant and I got AOR about 3 weeks after my application was received by CIC) CIC agent told me today that my application is being marked as inland. So, she will email Mississauga and somebody will contact either my sponsor or me to get it straightened out.

I was just asking that question on Oct 2014 Outland board.

I was actually filling out inland application before I decided to apply outland.
Since I was almost done with my inland application, I had IMM0008 and IMM1344 all filled out. So instead of downloading them from outland package link and fill out all over again, I made changes to IMM0008 and IMM1344 I downloaded from inland package.

Would that be the reason my outland application is being mistaken as inland? If it is then, I might have to withdraw this application and submit all over again. But I checked the form name and number, date that was last updated, number of pages and content and they were all the same.

Hi all, my husband and I sent application on Sep.17. but tracking has not been available until now. I contacted canadapost, but what they are saying is there's nothing they can't help without valid tracking number.. I am so nervous now..
