I really hope they got my email and put it in the system. The longer it takes , the more I start to doubt.

Hey guys quick question? Immigration sent this: (My question is: Can I send them an email of the citation or, do they require a certified copy?) Ottawa doesn't have a phone number for me to call so just curious if anyone has been in my situation. **THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR AN FBI RECORD**

6xxxxxxx - Michelle xxxxxxxxx:
•Court record / Police report: Provide an original police report or court records Provide court documents related to your "Damage to property" conviction in the state of Arizona.
•This must be received at this office by: 2015/07/05

Please note:

All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarized documents are not acceptable.

Just 8 days after our online status changed to DM there it is in our mailbox, kinda surreal.. We checked it over and saw no mistakes or anything on it so I guess we are good to go. Whew! 8)

Mail them the original copy. You can pay extra for the court to sign and stamp a seal on the printout. It ended up costing me $5 for 5 copies. It'd be smart to grab some extras for yourself anyway, you never know when you may need one.

They sent an email of the citation to me, I sent that to immigration. Also, they are sending me a certified copy; I'll send that via post when it arrives. I only had 30 days to get it in so the email was sent now.

Just the citation? Hmm. What was the outcome? Did you have to go to court? Did you pay your fine? Just curious, it's possible your situation/charges were different than mine of course. I'm just thinking they want to see what the actual outcome was. The court printed out a letter for me that looked like this >
http://torrentfreak.com/images/pjdoc.jpg

It cited the date, case #, and outcome - that the charges were dismissed without prejudice.

If it was more than 5 years ago that you paid off your fine (or served your time, finished your community service w/e) and you weren't charged w/ anything else in that 5 years you should be fine regardless, in that you would qualify to apply for "rehabilitation".

Mine was from 1998, I was 18. For criminal damage; punching a hole in the wall. I received 12 mos., unsupervised probation and 20 hours of counseling. It was closed and discharged in 1999

So, as I posted earlier they requested IMM5409 from us on May 26th, due to be received by them June 26th.

One of the big challenges we faced is that we are travelling in Indonesia at the moment. However, we were able to get the form administered and signed by an Australian consul at the Australian consulate, who agreed to do so because there is no Canadian consulate nearby and the Australian consulate actually formally performs services for Canadians in this area by diplomatic arrangement.

Then pulled out the wallet for express courier service to get the original form to CIC, and it actually arrived on June 2nd, only one week after they requested it. Only took two business days to get to Canada from Indonesia, amazing.

So… now we wait. Again. Does anyone have any idea how long of a delay is normally caused by this kind of document request? We had already arranged our affairs to be able to move to Canada in July. :-(

Perfect. Can you send them the letter that shows it was discharged? The court should be able to issue this for you. I hope the citation itself is enough, but they usually want to see the outcome! Did it say "Dismissed" on your FBI background check? I actually had to order a 2nd FBI check because the first one wasn't updated to show that my DUI had been dismissed and I had to have them update it via the Oregon State Police. It was a mess!

Don't let your citation wig you out, like I said I was in a similar situation and I just got DM w/o incident.

Oh that's perfect then! They just need to see the details and the outcome so I'm sure that's sufficient, if it says discharged.
