Hello all,

I know this question would be the same as before: i applied my PR in september :

We received your application for permanent residence on September 10, 2014.We started processing your application on January 23, 2015.
and later i added my wife's update in June 2015. anyone something like this before? and any update can be expected this dec? or how long woyld they reply us? my OWP expires in july. Would my PR approved before the expiry ?

There is no way to tell how long it will take to get a PR approved these days (unless if you applied via the EE process). I strongly recommend that you apply for your BOWP if you don't hear back from the CIC (with respect to your PR application) by March-2016. Good luck!

Yeah agreed. I will apply for bowp. Another question - I heard few ppl applied after expiry date too.. Is that a good thing? Or as u mentioned by march is a good thing?

Apply at the first chance you have ...which is 4 months from expiration date of your existing WP. Cheers!

Its worth enough to apply BOWP and wait.....It will save you if any further delays in processing CEC files.

I got first BOWP in May-2015, now i got all documents ready and uploaded inthe site, will wait for 4 months time period and submit.

Just Called CIC

This time , this guy is nicer(first time a guy ask me for UCI number), He ask me called back on March .8 if still no news.

and he explained, 14 months is still average process time, my application have passed the time,

but , only after 18 months, they can help do query and question why take so longer .

so 18 is just a limit for these guys who accept the phone if can do query for us .

it never means, after 18 moths, we will get any update definitely.

I don't know if it is bad news . but finally these 18 months process time rumor is clear . they will never change process time to 18 months in soon.

I even asked what's the action they can take after 18 months, the answer is directly , just a query, and push VO connect you back . nothing can be promised in their side.

Well, I wonder how effective that is - 18 months for me will be this Wednesday and I intend to give them a call then.

please remember post your update here. I am curious about it too .

You guys also received email about eTA from IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) ?
The email sender is IRCC. I didn't have any idea what IRCC was at first. Good to see IRCC instead of CIC though
Not only is CIC wasting my time, also I think there is a slow transition within the immigration department, or whatever.
Anyway, wish it was a MR request ! Hope for the best !

Nope didn't receive any email, so we need to apply for travel authorization now like us esta.

Anyway, I think I will take a break from this forum now, I don;t think its good for my health coming here and checking 2 times a day for any updates.
Happy Holidays everyone, I hope when I log in next year it will be because I recieved my MR and that we will all have good news to share.
2016 is our year!

xx

Dude it is for visa exempt countries.

PR itself an visa or travel authorisation.

Don't confuse with.

Now people from visa-exempt can travel Canada without a visa, but post march 2016 they should apply for it :D

After that post I promised to post an update after my call, so here it is:

Background:
Today it's 18 months since CIC has received my application. I'm not 2nd review, no updates since MR/NOA request/spouse questionnaire in early February 2015.

The call:
- application is in progress and is being worked on
- since there were recent (last 2 months) updates on the application (agent claimed those updates are not me requesting GCMS notes or paying RPRF upfront, but refused to tell me what the update was) he will not take any action action
- if there was no fairly recent activity on application and application would have been received at least 18 months ago they have an option to escalate the application. Escalation (not the word the agent used) basically means someone will check if the application has been left out for some reason (like way past due security check response blocking it for example) and fix it if necessary. If there are valid reasons (form CIC standpoint) for the delay escalation will change nothing.
- since there is no indication my application is abnormality delayed I should call them and check again if I don't get an update by the end of April

So, once your application passes 18 month mark, AND you had no update / change in GCMS notes for a couple of months give CIC a call.

so what they have done ? nothing, you have update on your application in last 2 months ? Maybe the update is update AOR sent date in online system . (keep secret , it is funny )

Stay positive..... June and July 2014 applicants have been finalized (almost all of them). August applicants have started to receive medical requests...... stay focus, we're not too far.

Merry Christmas / Season greetings to all CEC applicants.
